Agree totally. Yes, every time I unlock the Taycan I hold my breath for two reasons:
- How wonderful is to drive a PlayStation 911 with two proper rear seats
- what will go wrong this time
:) :)

Will do, and I completely agree! It’s fortunate that the car, when it’s behaving, is so utterly sublime.

Good idea - there was a Taycan driving away as I pulled up the other day - maybe I’ll have a Christmas miracle tomorrow!
Just say where the station is on here and let any members PM you.
If it was near me, I would be glad to help and I am sure most other members would be too.

Thanks for that. I tried 3 of the 4 available chargers before I was about to quit and limp to Porsche Hatfield when I thought, what the heck, and tried the PCM reboot. It may well be coincidence but it worked thereafter. As I’ll be back at IONITY around 11 am tomorrow I‘ll see what’s what. I’m wondering if the loose fitting plastic flap that covers the bottom of the DC socket is perhaps at fault if there’s a sensor in there somewhere (not the flap itself but the part below the hinge that inserts into the vehicle).
I doubt there will be a sensor for that little component but time will tell.

Typically I don't click the flap in place when charging to ensure it always springs back to avoid the error generating when your back is turned as you dock the cable at the end of a charging session.

Apologies for the tardy reply. It was IONITY at Baldock just off the A1. Weirdly, however, all worked without a glitch this time. I’m not wholly convinced that I might not need the services of an exorcist. The software is, I think, possessed. ?

So, it’s just been in at Norwich OPC for this. Both ports impaired this morning and the right hand charge door would only half close. The fault log reports multiple “Charging station incompatible” messages (quite why the car can’t tell the driver this and gives a much more ambiguous “Charge Port Impaired” message is beyond me, frankly).

I’ve nearly been stranded 3 times now by this and my confidence in the car is slowly ebbing away. Porsche say it’s the HPC and IONITY say it’s the car. The fact that it’s also saying “charging not possible” on other chargers as well seems to be of no relevance to Porsche.

Either way, I’m the man stood in the pouring rain plugging, unplugging, starting, rebooting and swearing like a trooper whilst it all goes wrong. Not wildly impressed, I’m afraid.

Nightmare!

Must admit that I'm dubious re Ionity chargers - only used once and ended up with random headlamp errors immediately after the charging session had finished so I've never been back. Could be purely coincidence but something is screwing up the software / comms somewhere. Perhaps in your case a cache needs to be cleared (only the dealer could do this) given it reports problems with non-Ionity chargers).

I've had the impairment error before (reported on the forum) once due to stupidly letting the port door close on the DC cover (cleared on restart) and when the onboard AC charger actually failed and had to be replaced.

Being stranded is no fun or anything to joke about and I would be getting anxious too about my next move.

Thanks Adrian,

Yes, it’s becoming a real concern. I feel somewhat fobbed off as one party blames the error on the other whilst neither of them are the ones who are actually having to live the experience. They say they’ve reset everything but who knows. I guess time will tell but I’m not spending the next 4 years going through this regularly so I’ll be putting the necessary agencies on notice from here onwards.

I’d take my AMG back right now if I could.

I really hope you get this sorted.
That is no fun at all.

Are there no other charging options at/near work at all?

Hi Ian, there are, albeit not quite so convenient/en route but the problem is more the now endemic “charge port impaired” messages.

That said, I’ve just picked it up from Porsche and they’ve cleared all the fault logs etc etc and it’s plugged in at home and happily charging without a murmur so I’m going to err on the side of optimism and assume all will be well from here onwards. Leaving at 0600 tomorrow for work so we shall soon see!

On the plus side, the rattle/vibration that I sent them a video of, they couldn’t find but seems to have cured itself anyway. So a small win today.

Good luck.
Fingers crossed.....and it's good it's charging up happily at home now.

I love this forum. Always so informative. I have my new MY22 CT turbo booked into my local dealer in February as currently the I keep getting the same message that the left port is impaired. Dealer has no idea so said I need to book it in. It charged fine at Porsche Swindon when I went on a long trip and the rest has been at home. Each time I try to charge at home using the left port, there is an issue and the message appears. So frustrating and concerns me that I might get the same if I do another long trip and need to charge away from the house. Anyway... based on some of your comments I tried to push the small flap closed and also hold and pusher the charger in hard on the left port and it seems to work fine now. Still going to keep my appointment with the dealer for now in case the issues returns tomorrow night!

Are you referring to the DC flap (to reveal 2 additional female pins))? This doesn't require to be open for AC charging (I'm sure you realise but just in case not) nor do I think there is any clever sensor detecting whether it is down or up when AC charging.

The EVSE to car cable shouldn't need to be forced and ought to glide in and then you'll hear the latches lock. Perhaps the cable is stretched / at an angle and not sitting squarely in the AC port?

Are you using the Porsche PMC+ / PMCC with supplied cables or 3rd party?

Thanks W1NGE.

Yes i know the DC flap doesn't need to be open, but i was wondering if it wasn't fully closed shut and that was causing the issue with AC charging on that side. I was getting a constant clicking noise from the that port (left) like the port wasn't able to lock onto the cable (which isn't stretched). I don't get any issues with right port, so will get the dealer to look at it still.
