I put down Lucids looks. That's well and truly deserved criticism for a car that looks like a 90s Buick, don't you think? Are you going to post another video now?
C'mon now some people like driving a car the shape of a bar of soap. I'd really love a pearl white Dove bar Lucid. You clearly must prefer the Irish Spring style of the Mercedes EQS (another bar of soap) :p :p :p

Range in an EV is totally overrated. At least for me.
This is a great conversation point and one that is often overlooked. Many studies have been performed that indicate around the 120-minute (2 hour) mark, you should stop, pause, stretch. This is both for physical health but also mental awareness. Based on that, and average rates of speed around the world, 150-miles / 240-kilometers is a reasonable stopping point for anyone. At which point.....

Most batteries charge best 10-80% SOC -- so at worst, you only need a car that does around 220 real-world miles (70% of that is 150 miles, or 10-80% sweet spot). Anything more is not needed. At that point, efficiency does help if the car also charges fast, but those are all dynamic issues.

Dynamic in the sense that some cars have bigger batteries to overcome inefficiency. Some cars are more efficient but less powerful or fun to drive. Some cars charge faster (800-900V versus 400V) which stresses the battery but also can overcome shortcomings. We are on the cusp of big battery tech changes that will make ALL of this moot.

I'd argue that 95% of the time people driving their EV are charging at home or overnight, and the DC charging and total range do not matter. For those few times a year it does matter, I agree that the range is often overrated. We have driven our Volvo XC40 (~215 miles of range) on trips that were over 1,000 miles in each direction, without any issues. :)

Hahaha, I definitely prefer the irish spring green ? Don’t even get me started on the shape of that EQS though. But hey, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I got a ton of positive comments on the looks of my previously owned zenith red lucid Air Gt. I liked the look- you can't compare it to the EQS which everybody agrees is a an ugly car. The engineering discussed in all the lucid videos is awesome. There is almost universal agreement that the Lucid is a great car - when it works. The issue with the car is reliability and the fact that many features don't work all the time or don't work that well. The lucid has awesome screens but most of the features didn't work consistently. so I relied on apple CarPlay that looks terrible on the screen -its a tiny little rectangle that doesn't fit the screen.

PPS - the lucid has an awesome frunk - the largest of any car - but it was useless to me because the automatic Frunk latches never worked properly - (replaced /upgraded twice by Lucid Service) and so I could never use the Frunk for Fear that my stuff would get locked in the Frunk.

True auto enthusiasts are never biased. Understand you prefer Taycan, but those of you who did, no need to discredit Lucid. All I'm saying is give credit when its due. And I thought you were true car enthusiasts.. Guess not. Actually, I never expected you would praise Lucid for what they achieved with their 1st car- beating Tesla. I wanted to prove myself right. Enjoy your 200 mile range ( if you drive like a 90 year old) cramped interiors and waiting at the Porsche dealer for 3 hours just to get an update. But at least its a sports car.

With spirited driving, cold weather, 4 passengers, AC, elevation- a lot of your range goes away. Range is king for EV's.

Spirited driving a 2.7 tons EV with 4 passengers on winding roads in cold weather is not safe even in Ferrari. Agree, Lucid its a great EV built by a poorly managed company. My stock investment and many others is worth nothing today, luckily I sold out most of the stocks when value started going down.

But for EV's , range is king.
Have you any idea why? It is a mystery to me.

Nobody has ever asked me what the Range of my Ferrari is (less than Taycan) or how much my fuel consuption varies with driving style or traffic conditions but it does seem to dominate every discussion of EVs.

There has only been one occasion in the last year when I even considered range - did I need to stop on my way home from my daughter's house?
The predicted range was enough but I had my dog with me and both I and the dog needed a comfort break so I just plugged in for a short time anyway.

Range certainly zero consideration for me and now when I get the inevitable question I just say no idea, always enough.

Thank you for aknowledging the real engineering behind Lucid. Yes, great EV- best EV technology out there! So is the Taycan if you want a sports EV. Its a new company like Rivian, just needs time- a few years to establish.

If you had bothered to read the other threads on this forum about Lucid you would have seen that there is plenty of praise for the engineering that went into the vehicle. But you didn't do that. Instead you stood on a soap box and told us what should be most important to us as EV owners and then proceeded to essentially call us luddites (not "true auto enthusiasts"). Finally you revealed that you had an agenda the whole time stating "I wanted to prove myself right".

I hope you enjoy every moment with your Lucid (which I never considered buying because I don't want to spend so much money on something I think is so visually bland - and I'm far from being alone on that sentiment). I really mean that, but don't for a moment think it's okay to tell me what should be most important to ME when buying a vehicle.

Don’t understand the range complaints either. Everybody must have a much bigger bladder then me as I’m always having to stop before I need to charge for some relief.
This trip from the summer was without a single stop (unless you count being stationary on I-95).
I intentionally had no liquids for breakfast just in case such extreme measures were necessary to return from a trip for our daughter's summer camp performance.

Porsche Taycan Lucid vs Taycan Bladder Control

Under more normal circumstances though, I went on a six-hour roundtrip drive yesterday, with zero stops (or even temptations to stop) on each three-hour leg.
Bringing the Taycan would have added about an hour to those six hours of driving.
And that's under a best-case scenario.
On a route that is almost entirely interstate, culminating at a major ski resort.
The CCS1 infrastructure in northern New England is really that bad.

If I adopted that approach, my carpool partner for tomorrow's trip would ... never be my carpool partner again.
Ditto if I brought the Taycan under any charging plan.
