When you click info for 19.2kw on-board charger option in Taycan configurator, below is what is displayed. Very misleading photo.

strange complaint, but I would assume, since there's nothing to show, (since this feature is for internal power electronics), they show the charger.

at any rate, it's a borderline dumb option anyhow unless you plan to have more than 50 amps of supply in your home or office (most do not). skip it and spec the 400V if you want something that may actually come in useful.

Does the PMCC even supply enough juice to charge at 19.2kw? Lol

no - it does not in North America - the Euro versions can do 22 kW…

maximum capacity for a "mobile" EVSE in North America (any mobile EVSE not just Porsche) is 9.6 kW

to charge at 19.2 kW you need a wall mounted EVSE on a 100 amp breaker (80 amp charge rate) - Porsche Wall Charger and others can do 19.2 kW…

According to the overheating reports on the forum, it can’t do the 40 amps it’s spec’d for, let alone 80! ?

Agreed. They would be better served by showing a schematic of the car where the high-powered charger is located….

Except that isn’t a charger, it’s an EVSE. Porsche is just adding more confusion to that fact.

The newness/confusion about Taycans (and other EVs) isn't just limited to owners, dealers, sales reps, and service techs, it also includes corporate sales and marketing people who develop advertisements and product ordering tools.

EVSE is a specific, technical term. It would be wrong to call, say, the on-board charger an EVSE.

Charger, however, meh. It’s used so many ways in so many contexts.

An EVSE is certainly charging related equipment. So, if someone calls it a charger, it doesn’t bother me as long as it’s clear what they’re talking about.

Note that this doesn’t mean I typically refer to EVSEs as chargers (unless required to for joking purposes).

I’m sure some disagree. But that’s my two cents. ?‍♂
