Crazy ,move to Florida nice weather only a six percent sales tax and a 7500 dollar refund from the federal government on your income tax
I find Florida a nice holiday destination but it is too hot for me!
I have lots of friends and relatives in the USA and have visited often but I wouldn't want to live there, and probably will never visit again, since airports are such a monumental pita these days.

So I can't peel it off for re-use on rental cars anymore?
yes you can (you should not, but you can). E-vignette is 2023, sticker version will still be available. Or one could peel it off from somebody else s car. It's 39 eur after all.

In my country (CH) and municipality, taxes do what it says on the tin - they are not luxury taxes hidden behind a funny and spurious nomenclature, designed to crowd out purchase of some high end products (pollution is just an excuse).

Road tax is a tax to use a public road. For 600-700 hp ICE (plus it depends also on the car's weight) is 500 eur or so (Zug) that's what I pay for the 992 turbo s. EV is half of that or less to reward no emissions. And registration tax 37%?? It must be a hell of a lot of work for clerks to issue a plate number :)
As a result we have a few more lovely 911 sold yearly.
I was just thinking this yesterday. "What if I did not buy the Taycan, but a 911 instead". The Taycan lost a good amount of value while the 911s are basically losing nothing at all... But on the other hand, gasoline prices and tax, insurance etc. would be much higher with the 911, but probably still less than what my Taycan lost from new to a year later now.. :(

Really depends on your use case. I daily the Taycan. I drive quite a lot for personal/family reasons (CH, DE, ITA) and you know that especially in CH there are endless roadworks, slow speed limits, intense traffic (not just CH), etc. my 992 would not cut it on most levels: noisy, harsh ride - so much more rigid vs 991 - modest luggage space, 2+ seats only, low seating, etc. it puts a smile on my face but for 300+ km on straight highways, Taycan is so much better.

Actually, I m annoyed by the innodrive disengaging every few seconds (if hands are not on the wheel)..

Not a bad idea! I have friends in Miami from my days consulting for Lola Cars and that would be a low stress way to return and see them.

Yes. Collected the beauty today. I’ve had cabrios before, that roofless experience is very special. Instant power, pops and bangs on downshifts, sliding rear, instant turn in, 911 is really all about driving sensation. Having had Panamera, Taycan and having driven 718, this is in a class of its own. Even base model feels very fast and agile. So far, great experience.

Hi folks,

Due to unsolvable technical issues, I was forced to make a change. After quite a bit of thinking and consideration, decided to go to 911 for time being. Here are a few notes from my experience that could be useful.

Overall it was a superb experience all year long, immediate acceleration at any speed, sharp handling and smooth ride. Real world range in summer was around 400km (could be stretched more if driving carefully). Winter was a whole different story - city driving would be closer to 270 or less depending on temperature. Other than range decrease, it was very nice to experience in winter - controlled drift, planted, never got stuck, awd ftw. Heat and sound insulated windows were a great feature, windows almost never got any fog and during summer cabin did not heat up too much (I would consider that a must have option for Taycan). Night vision is feature I will be missing, it’s operations in background added nice safety feeling, and warned me of some animals helping avoid problems. Burmester was not as nice as in Panamera and door panel rattling was very annoying, probably addition of vibro insulation would have helped. 19” wheels were perfect for bumpy roads, adding extra layer of comfort while still providing good handling at speed. 0-100 best time I got was 3.92, 0-200 12.27, 1/4 mile at [email protected] km/h. Ceramic coating made cleaning easier and water repellant treatment for windows made it much easier to keep them clean without need of using wipers especially at speeds of 60+ km/h. PPF was not applied, and if the car was a keeper, I would certainly do that, as in year’s time I managed to pick up quite a big of fine grain damages on the bumper and the hood. Also area around door handles picks up scratches easily as do the charging door.

Will I return to ev? Definitely. However at least until the end of the autumn, the new daily driver will be 911 Carerra 2 Cabrio - it makes one feel at least 10y younger ;) while performance is similar to Taycan 4s, it comes with *much* more involvement and excitement (the sound of turbos, exhaust,
engine and with the roof done is nice). The magic sport response button enables “Taycan” mode in terms of the acceleration.

Also 2022 apparently comes with PCM 6.0 which felt a bit of upgrade compared to the one in 2021 4s (colored icons etc).

Now I need to get the ppf done and the first proper drive is expected on May 21 on the season’s opening event for our local Porsche club.

That’s it. Happy to provide any additional feedback.

It's a beauty for sure...but you'll find it cramped after awhile, also expensive to maintain and refuel! I went the other way and traded in my GTS for the Taycan and never looked back...but then I'm old and like my comforts.

I get it. I’m 20 years older than you and I drive a 911 at least 50% of the week. The other 50% is a big old comfortable American SUV.
