I just got home from a trip and was pleased to find the Porsche NACS DC adapter waiting for me. (When I ordered my CT in May 2024 there was no mention of it, so kudos to Porsche for just sending me one.)

The instructions say to connect the adapter to the NACS cable first and then plug the whole thing into the car. Is there a particular reason for this order (if, as has been frequently said, the adapter is a passive device)?

I imagine that if you connected the adapter to the car first and then spent some time getting the cable over, the charge port door might try to close on it? That’s the only reason I can imagine. The CCS1 connection is pretty unwieldy though, so I imagine it would be easier to plug it into the car first then plug in the cable.

Guessing either "for legal reasons", perhaps something like: the port on the car has a physical plug detection capability. If you plug in something that's passive the controller will see a "something plugged in" event but no communication from the charger, for the time it takes you to plug in the charger into the adapter. Possibly there are time outs in the software that could result in it becoming confused if you take too long.
