Having specked my build and picked almost every technical optional extra (for the front two passengers), I am plagued by two niggling concerns.
While some options are likely just software switches, a fair number are extra hardware.
Even extra software can have power drain and reliability impact.
The extra hardware adds weight and uses more power.
I am curious what impact on range and reliability there there is comparing the basic vehicle with a fully specked one.
I remember when considering buying a Tesla, and asking about maintenance, the sales rep said that there are hardly any moving parts, the car is basically maintenance free.
The Taycan seems to have quite a lot of electro medicinal components.
Someone said they skipped the passenger display because it was just one more unnecessary thing to go wrong.
I have chosen the extra PDCC and PTV options in the hope I will enjoy the country roads more, but this adds yet more electro mechanical kit which will increases power consumption and be yet another component which can fail.
This question isn’t specifically about PDCC, although that is the most significant hardware optional extra available I believe.
Most people’s decisions seem to be based on the cost of options and whether they are worth the money, rather than a reliability/benefit comparison.
