Interesting that it's only available for the GTS sedan. For $5K however, I'd probably skip it anyways for my CT Turbo based on the pictures I've seen so far, but maybe if I saw it in person I would change my mind. Then again, Taycan CT Turbo is a vaporware car for USA anyways (Porsche borrowing strategy from Elon I guess), so someday when they finally start making them they might have VLC roof available as an option for less, or even standard.

If I was in a hot country I might have considered it. But in the UK, the standard pano was perfectly fine during the hot summer days. IMO., not worth the extra money.

I would like to experience it first before committing. Outrageously expensive to gamble away on a 'shade' which may not do a lot other than look 'cool' from the inside. I find (even in Scotland) the cabin can be overly warm on sunny days and therefore curious to see what (if anything) improves with the VLC. I have time before locking spec on GTS ST but still baulk at the cost - PDCC is a bargain in comparison!

VLC roof will surely be available on Sportback in due course - it was a key feature when the car was launched!

had this in my wife's convertible Merc. was cool as hell. For a week. Then you find the setting you like and leave it on there forever... I actually forgot about this option until i stumbled upon this post...

I noticed the VLC is an option on the Canadian Config. $3750 on top of the premium package. I saw it on the GTS sedan.

Presumably you won't notice it from the driver's seat. I didn't even notice the CT I test drove had a glass roof while driving.
So it is a really cool thing to impress your kids and play with when stopped and looking backwards, no?

Not on the GTS ST configurator yet so not an option I need to worry about at this point, but I'm thinking it's a no brainer if and when it arrives to help with cabin cooling. Direct sun shining in onto the kids on a long journey, I can hear the complaints already. Then run AC full on for hours to keep things comfortable and I wonder what that will do to range?
If it becomes an option before I lock in definitely in.
Not to mention it was one of the big splashes at the GTS launch, I think it will make the car far more desirable in the future...

If heat rejection is your primary goal, I'll go out on a limb and say you can get much better results from high end heat rejecting tint product, over the VLC roof.

You're probably right, but that's permanent not variable...

Sure, for when you want to toast your passengers ;) I think the question is how often will you be changing settings on it, and whether that is a good tradeoff for lower heat rejection, which helps to keep the car at whatever temperature you set (in hot weather keeps heat out, in winter keeps heat in, both saving battery energy).

Oh I get it. I didn't think about the Thermos flask effect, keeping the heat in when cold outside vs keeping the heat out in summer.
Actually a great idea if the VLC roof isn't available when I lock.
