My Taycan 4S (MY21) is missing a key option: “Park Assist including Surround View”.
First owner ordered the car with £30K+ of options but unfortunately didn’t tick the Surround View (and Head up display).
It has the basic reversing camera but the image quality (resolution and coverage) is not great.

Has anyone in the UK looked at retrofitting this option on their Taycan?

I called my local Porsche Centre but they said they didn’t offer this retrofit under their Tequipment services and I needed to look for 3rd party installers.

That's a shame and I think you'll struggle to retrofit. If it were possible it would be cost prohibitive - new door mirrors, new front camera, associated cabling (may not be in place by default), coding to PCM, recalibration & labour. I think it would cost ££££s.

Have you seen what Surround View actually looks like? It also isn't great! I optioned it but rely on my mirrors because the camera view is disorientating and downright dangerous sometimes, when reversing it makes close things appear miles away

Thanks Steve. Good point, I have not seen it on a Taycan but I have spec’ed it on our X3 and use it pretty much all the time.

I spoke with a company in Blackburn and they are checking my VIN to see if they can do this retrofit before they can quote.

I will update this thread with their response & pricing estimate.

The surround view is great. I couldn't have the Taycan without it, such a big car. It also has a front and rear side kerb view to save your expensive wheels on parking or entering barrier car park.

Looks like they haven't done this retrofit yet – so they'd require you to travel to them so they would preform it. This company has been in business a long time and appear to have a good reputation.

Personally, I find surround view very good and as per other Porsche models I have / had with the same option.

Too many to list. Includes a MY23 Taycan RWD

Surround view is actually nice when you parallel park. Makes the maneuver easier BUT the big problem is the creeping itself. There's no human way of moving the car millimetrically where you wish.

It's really starting to get on my nerves. Either it's stopped or it jumps an inch or two. I feel like a school kid who hasn't mastered the non existing clutch.

If you have kerb view you don't have the full surround view option. I only know that because I have the full 3D enabled, but no kerb view (which I think would be useful for me).

Kufatec offers OEM surround view retrofit. Not sure if that included auto-park.

But I imagine the cost of retrofitting would be highly prohibitive. It will also need calibration at dealership even after retrofit.

No issue here either when on the level. Check that you don't have WBA (Collision Warning - Hold) configured for 'early'.

Kerb view is part of surround.

If you have the 3D option with remote park assist then for some reason kerb view is dropped. - I guess because the car can park itself...maybe

Park itself eh? Are you channeling your inner Elon? :CWL:

Until Porsche officially says they will cover any and all damage caused by the car parking itself, it doesn't park itself. The only company which stands behind its ADAS product today (that I know of) is Mercedes - they take on liability for any damage caused by the car while in Level 3 self-driving, which does not require the driver to keep eyes on the road, as long as the driver takes over within 30(?) seconds after the car notifies them. Even Elon, with all his FSD hype, does not have a competing product today (i.e. consumer level L3 ADAS on sale, manufacturer takes on liability).

As for Porsche self parking, anywhere where I could use kerb view, Porsche just beeps and stops. Heck, I have disable maneuvering assist or it won't let me manually park in my own garage. It will "self park" as long as there is 3+ feet of room around the car, and I remembered to activate it before I get close to where I want it to park. Interestingly, it doesn't park it perfectly dead center of the spot either, which surprised me actually.

Sorry, one of Tayacan's pet peeves for me - the dropping of kerb view after I paid extra to get the top of the line feature set. They could have easily kept the kerb view button and allow people to use it. Perhaps Porsche powers that be didn't want telemetry numbers coming back showing people who paid for their top of the line surround view prefer to use the cheaper feature, proving the flashy version is not practical?

I keep forgetting about the auto park feature. This was one of the few times I've used it – on the first weekend of getting the car.

But it did do a good job of aligning it with the kerb.
