Pick up vs delivery

Hi all,

Just bought my first ever Porsche - exciting! It needs to have hand controls fitted which is happening between the dealership (6 hours away) and a separate company. Because of this I couldn't just take it away on the day. It's going to be a bit of a palaver to go down and pick it up, and would likely involve either a really early train and then 30 minute push (I'm a wheelchair user) to the centre - not the end of the world, but it would mean a very early start and a late finish, though I suspect driving back in the Taycan the hours would fly by. I kind of want to do it for the experience, but I'm wondering if it's actually gonna be worth it.

My question for those who've done it - is it worth the experience of picking it up? Or should I just sack it off and get it delivered?

To your question... Are you accounting for the time to charge, get familiar with a new charging system, the inevitability of something not going to plan, etc.? It's fun to figure all that out if you have time to do so.
Otherwise, it's fun to figure out a new car with the luxury of time in your own home....

This is a fair point. I'm not new to EVs so charging explanations shouldn't take too long. I've spent so long researching that I'm hopefully familiar with the system and asked a few of these questions in my test drive. But yes, it doesn't leave much time for error/chance...I'm starting to think getting delivered is best.

Oh it would be very interesting to see and understand how your Taycan can be adapted to your needs. Please do share some pics and details when you take delivery of the car.

Also be interested in how you find the position of the B-pillar getting in and out. Many users find it pushed too far forward – though I never had an issue with that myself.

Congratulations on your new car, personally I would collect the car it’s a different experience, they’ll go through everything with you and let’s be honest it’s an experience. Have you considered going the day before and staying locally, that way you’re not going to be too tired and can really enjoy the drive back. Push the dealer to see if they might foot the bill for the hotel….

I live in Nottingham and bought my car from Glasgow. I flew up and the salesperson picked me up from the airport. I can honestly say I didn't particularly enjoy the drive back because everything was new to me and I was a bit nervous of the car. (I had the same experience with previous new to me cars as well)
