does anyone here belong to the Porsche club?
if yes, what do you get out of belonging?
from what I see they are not especially interested in their EV cousin.

I'm assuming you mean PCA (Porsche Club of America). I belong, been a member since `99. For us, we get the social events, drives, auto cross. I also do track days with the GT3. There's been several articles about platform details in Panorama. Sometimes I think a lot depends on the local region and where you are located. If you have an active region then it can be fun. If the region you are in, doesn't do much, then it might not be so much fun.

What are you looking for?

I have belonged to the Northern California region of the PCA for several years and always took my Boxster or its successor the 911 Targa to events. We usually attended 2-3 driving events per year and liked the common interest in Porsches. I took my Taycan to a recent driving event attended by 60 cars and we had the only Taycan. Even when we all stopped for lunch and there would have been ample opportunity for other members to show interest in the car, very few did. Incidentally, I brought the Taycan to our local Cars & Coffee this past Saturday and, again, very little interest shown. I suspect that will change. Bottom line, I still believe that joining the PCA is worthwhile.

I joined PCA last summer at the suggestion of my PEC ATL driving instructor.

There’s a monthly magazine and various track and social events. We aren’t tracking our Taycan; I may make an attempt or two when I get my 992.

We tried one social event last year. A “delayed” Valentine’s brunch in November. We mainly went because it happened to be at one of our favorite brunch places (YaYa’s in in Chesterfield for you other STL folk). But we found that we were the youngest ones there by probably 15 years. I mean, everyone was nice, but I definitely felt out of place. I also got the feeling they had zero interest in the Taycan.

It was somewhat explained to me that the social events tended to be more the older crowd and the DE tended to be more the younger crowd. I only went to the one event, so have limited first had information. I’m also not sure how specific that is to my area.
