Whilst my car was at the dealers for its service and battery recall, they also reset the Dashcam, as I had been unable to connect to it.

However, now it no longer automatically goes into parking mode when I stop the car.

When I go onto the app and connect to the Dashcam, in the ‘modes’ section, no ‘parking‘ mode is available. If I then click ‘ reset settings’, the parking mode comes up and I can then select that and click ‘apply’.

That seems to work the first time I turn off the car, but after that, instead of going into parking mode, it simple says ‘system shutting down’ and turns itself off.

It basically doesn’t ’save’ the new settings with parking mode turned on, and reverts to parking mode off.

Any ideas?!

After discussion with their technicians it seems that they are now setting up these dashcams with parking mode permanently set to off, to avoid battery drain when the car is left for an extended period!

This is ridiculous and a) takes away 50% of the functionality of the camera and b) unbelievable that they would make this change without informing the customer.

Given that my car is 2 years old and I’ve never had any such issue with battery drain, I’ve asked the dealer to come and collect the car and reinstate the settings to how it was before, I.e. with parking mode automatically switching on when the car is turned off.

effing irritating that they do these things without consent. It's almost as if you're driving a Tesla .
Not sure how long a dashcam takes to drain a 100kwh (ish) hour battery, but I reckon it'll be a while.

My Macan's manual suggests aiming for a battery at 50% and checking that the charge level hasn't dropped below 25% every three months if not driving for extended periods (if you can't leave it plugged in to maintain 50%). Hard to believe that a dashcam would make a huge difference to that?
