Due to no longer having the free trial of the Porsche connect service, I’m not sure if the PCM navigation from Porsche is worth using or if it would be better to use google maps?

If I didn't want to pay for Porsche Connect – I'd consider using Apple Maps because:
  1. It has full (if sometimes a bit wonky) integration with Taycan's current battery state of charge.
  2. It can do full routing to chargers taking into account battery level and predicted consumption.
  3. In MY25 software (which might come down to all models) it is capable of presenting directions onto the driver display (and possibly the HUD).
It is not capable of kicking off battery pre-conditioning though – which for me is enough to stick with the Porsche Navigation for now.

I also have zero interest in telling Google where I am and where I'm going. Too much of their business model is using that data to sell it via targeted advertising.

I would keep Porsche Connect given the tight integration with related services not least charge planning and routing - battery preconditioning would be lost.

Fully agree with everything @tigerbalm has said.

Does the Apple Maps integrate with the Porsche Taycan? How can I do that through CarPlay?
Would you use Porsche navgication anyway if you didn’t have the Porsche connect service?

But is like the Apple Maps showing on the instrument cluster? Or does the live activity from Apple Maps showing up on the Porsche navigation ?
This is not available on MY20 - MY24 cars - enhanced Apple integration comes with new Cayenne, Macan and MY25+ Taycans.
