Not seen this issue on my ports (I use a power washer). Shouldn't be an issue though - get it checked out when able - meantime check the rubber seals. Note that you could be charging your car in the rain with the port open - not a safety issue normally..

Seems unlikely (could be from when you opened) - cars are water tested at the factory (normally) so unlikely this would have been missed (not impossible - just unlikely).

electric or manual ?

Shouldn't be a problem either way.
My manual* port doors are fully open during charging for hours on end in horizontal rain storms recently.

* For some obscure reason I say 'cabin doors to manual' to myself every time I open and close them.
Try it.... Its fun ?

I've charged during rain and snow for over 2 years now. No issues what so ever.

What happens if it starts raining after the fact that you plugged it in and left? You would never be able to charge the car if you lived in UK... ;)

That’s one of the main features of EVSEs - at home and in public places - safe delivery of electricity in all weathers.
