hey forum!

I have recently moved to a new electricity plan that gives me free charging from 12am -4am daily. With that in mind, i set my taycan to charge between 12-4 and i set charge percentage to 80. However, every single time the car charges up to 100%.

What am i doing wrong? Can anyone help?

You probably have a profile with preferred times without a timer.

Set the profile min to the min to charge to immediately when plugging in.

Set the timer to 80% and whatever time you want at 4am or later. It will charge as much as possible during your preferred times, but may still charge outside of them if it needs to for reaching 80%. They’re “preferred”. Not strictly enforced.

Note that if you set the timer to the end of your preferring profile time (4am), then the preferred time basically won’t do anywhere because the timer is just going to control when to start. In this case can likely just use the timer by itself.

Must have a Profile enabled. Must be set in preferred charge time mode with times to match your tariff. Min charge level should be 25% (or low)
Must have a timer set with a ready time for a time in the next morning. Timer must have the desired max charge level set.

Thank you all for the replies. This is helpful and infuriating at the same time. I don't understand why they cant do both - absolutely bonkers.

Thank you! JFC this is so stupid. I don't have an option to not heat/cool the vehicle if I'm not going anywhere. wow... german engineering at its finest.
What do you mean? You can set a timer without climate control.

You can disable preheat on the timer. That will do what you want.

the alternative is to control the charging window in the EVSE. If you can set a schedule for charging on the EVSE then you need to set a Profile to your desired charge level (note a Profile, not a timer!). The profile must be set to Optimised Charging mode (not preferred window). And you must NOT have any timers enabled.

this way the car will want to charge to the 85% ‘minimum’ straight away, but the EVSE will only deliver power in the chosen window.
