Grip is nice it's just more labor intensive to clean deep stains. I didn't spec it since I don't like it for daily driving.

It used to be called alcantara. It's common in the performance versions of cars (S-line from Audi, M series from BMW, AMG from Mercedes, etc). It has a very race car like feel. It's basically the same steering wheel you get in a GT4/3/2. Supposedly race cars use alcantara (race tech) material for better grip over leather. It provides more texture.

I love it as it brings part of my old GT3 over to the Taycan.

It’s a must have! Agree with GT3 comment - it brings a little bit of race interior to the car - always had equivalent on my previous cars for steering wheel and roof lining

and feels great

Race-Tex. I love leather but not for the steering wheel of a sports car
Only drawback is what @XLR82XS pointed

Also I'm pretty sure you need the sport Chrono package to get the Race-Tex steering wheel (heated) with an all leather interior.
