Hang on, so how differently do the headlights operate in Europe? In the US, "parking" function of the headlights is the same as DRL - 4 white lights in each headlight. Whenever the turn signal is on, DRL (or the white parking light) is turned off, so that the turn signal blinks between all-off, amber-on. In Europe (anyone from Europe please chime in) does it just alternate white-amber instead or white-(white+amber)?

Nope amber flash, white sidelights. Could this be to do with the rear lamps (controlled by headlamp unit) as we have amber rear turn indicators? I seem to remember USA rears being red..............

When you say amber flash, while white parking/drl lights say on, or does the blinking side turn off the whites? This is about when parking/drl lights are on, not low or high breams.

This recall specifically mentions headlights. This is not likely having to do with the rear lights, those are controlled by the Rear BCM (a.k.a. BCM2). If interested in NA vs. EU tail lights operation differences (and what read US lights look like when BCM2 is coded to EU market), see this thread: https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/t...-tail-lights-on-north-american-taycans.20335/

When a turn signal is activated the four whites become flashing orange. Doesn’t matter if just drls are active only same happens when main lights are on.

When parked, turn indicator active and car powered off then the whites stay on along with the corresponding rear red tail. This is the parking light.

I am really not communicating my question clearly, so bare with me. Let me try again - when you say "four whites become flashing orange", does that mean:
  1. The headlight flashes between orange and white
  2. The headlight flashed between orange and all-off
In the US, it's #2 above, meaning the headlight which is flashing disables the DRL's for as long as the turn indicator stalk is in the turn position. So between flashing orange, it looks like this (right turn signal activated):
Porsche Taycan Recall: Incorrect Headlight Software (ARB4) 2024 model year - September 5, 2024 1726217253661-4g

This "theoretically" provides more contrast for the flashing orange, however when headlights are on (low or high), the headlights stay on while the turn signal flashes orange.

Europe is the same. Parking lights - four white DRLs
Indicator with side lights (parking lights) on - four white DRLs extinguish and become 4 amber indicators - no white light at all - until signal is cancelled.

Thanks. I am confused then what the difference is between NA and EU cars which this recall is addressing.

All off same as you. Only the DRLs flash and not the main headlight.

It does not alternate between white and orange - that would be confusing- orange off orange.

Porsche's cover up for, "Oops. We accidentally programmed 2024 U.S spec Taycans for full matrix functionality."

I say...skip this recall.
