Hey All,

Have 2022 Taycan CT4, have had multiple issues with most recent being the second round of module/cell replacements on my battery.

Second time this happened to me the car “bricked,” so there was no way to even unlock it I put into neutral. Dealer and 1-800 Porsche had no clue how to access the vehicle once this happened. So three tow trucks later, they ordered one with dolly (picture)

Since taking ownership in August 2022, the Taycan has been at Porsche Service for over 200 days (and counting) which is also over 25% of my ownership.

Is there a thread or has anyone been successful in achieving a buyback? I know there have been some recalls due to battery, but my vin was not on list.

Shocked there hasn’t been a broader recall or possible class action suit brewing.

At my wit’s end, so thought I would throw this up on the Forum.

Phil, sorry to hear about your experience. I LOVE your spec BTW.

I'm in a similar situation as you, but with my 360 camera that has been failing on and off since I took ownership 1 year ago. Been in the shop for over 2 months combined. Your situation is way worse.

Porsche Canada said to work with the dealership for buy back which the dealer gave me a number for. Obviously since its through the dealer, they're not going to take a loss on it; they're just treating it like a trade in / trade up so I have no incentive to do that.

As for compensation for lost time with my car, I'm still waiting on Porsche Canada to come back with something.

End of the day, I'll just keep bringing my car back to fix the camera if it breaks again.

I have another friend who had a battery die on him - the dealer got him a new car, but I think he had to pay up a bit to get it.

For my 2020 Taycan 4S, there have been approximately 3X the number of service calls required compared to previously owned Porsche Cayennes, which were driven more miles. Many of these required a few days to get the software updated properly done.

In June I had a battery problem. The instrument panel said "Take to service," which I did. It took 15 weeks, but they replaced a few battery cells, which required a complete drop of the battery tray and then an extended replacement.

Porsche and the dealer made sure I had a loaner car during the whole time, and charged me nothing for the service as it was under warranty (the car was almost 4 years old.) Thus far, runs great and possibly a tiny bit better.

That would mean the car was, for 2024, away from me approximately 16/52 = 30% of the time. Thus far. However, I am not complaining as they took care of me during that 30% of the time.

@GoodToBePhil - I had a Ford with persistent maintenance issues after purchase. I successfully exercised the Lemon Law (in Wisconsin) and received a replacement vehicle.

Details vary by state.
In California, for example, the manufacturer, or its representative in California, may be required to repurchase or replace your vehicle if, after a “reasonable” number of repair attempts, it cannot fix a defect or malfunction that:
  • Is covered by the manufacturer’s written new vehicle warranty,
  • Substantially impairs the use, value, or safety of the vehicle to the consumer, and
  • Is not caused by the unauthorized or unreasonable use of the vehicle after sale.

Substantially impairs means:
  • You have taken the vehicle in for repair by the manufacturer or its agents:
  • Four or more times for the same problem and it still is not fixed, or
  • Two or more times for the same problem, if that problem is big enough to cause death or serious injury, and it still is not fixed, or
  • The vehicle has been out of service for repair for more than 30 days (the 30 days do not need to be in a row), and
  • If required by the warranty or owner’s manual, you notified the manufacturer about the problem.
