I have a relatively new to me 2022 4S CT. Over the past week, I’ve noticed that initially with driving, the regen electric braking doesn’t seem active. The brake pedal feel is slightly different and the regen green light meter on the center cluster isn’t active. After a minute or so, things will go back to “normal”. Typically, the electric to mechanical brake transition is pretty much imperceptible (kudos to the Porsche engineers). Not sure what might be going on.

If your high voltage battery is full (100% charge) there’s nowhere for the recovered energy to go so regen is disabled until the battery charge drops slightly.

Absolutely normal. Porsche engages the mechanical brakes when starting out after sitting for a while to clean the rotors. One or two stops from 30 or 40 mph and regen should kick back in.

Thanks! That is exactly what it feels like- a little gritty with initial braking as if the rotors are a little dirty which would not be happening if it was motor braking. It’s my daily driver so it happening after 2 months was kind of strange. It’s been pretty humid/rainy here more recently so maybe that’s why it feels different than before. Appreciate the input.

Good to know and makes sense. I’m almost always at 85% max. Love this community. Lots of collective insight and experiences.

Totally normal. Brake cleaning cycle at beginning of a drive, especially first drive after charging. The brake pedal should not feel too different (especially if the car had all the latest recalls done, including the brake line replacement which included the PSM firmware update). You will hear and perhaps feel the mechanical brakes engaging though if the car is silent inside.
