(Pulls out genie lamp and rubs) Can we please get lift-off regen in Normal mode by default...?
I suspect no since the car defaults to the mode used for official testing so it starts in the most efficient mode.
I soon got used to and now prefer the default, personally, so not a problem for me.

Yeah, I know. If only I could wish for more wishes…. :-(

My personal thoughts are that lift off regen is of the same ilk as sports sound. It’s a simulated ICE experience and it’s no coincidence that both turn on at the same time in sports mode. They provide ‘feel’ but have no direct impact on lap time, imo. Although I do find sports sound helps with extra sensory sense of speed.

Not sure i would agree.

Sport Sound activities when Sport Plus drive mode is selected - not Sport.

Overrun recuperation isn't a simulation but a physical one and actually provides a degree of braking (therefore recuperation) and is analogous to ICE braking.

I'm over egging it a bit for effect because in general it's neither here nor there. But, as you make the point it's analagous to an ICE behaviour, it doesn't make the car faster, if anything likely slower because it fixes a minimum amount of braking force, and definitely doesn't improve efficiency. It's there for feel. It has a physical effect but the car turns on the behaviour and it's set at a level to simulate engine overrun. Sport sound simulates engine noise and also has a physical effect.

when I drove my Model 3 performance on track - I found it very very difficult to predict the amount of weight transfer when lifting off the throttle due to a very very variable amount of regen from lap to lap…with the Taycan it's very predictable…

I agree porsche shoudl support one pedal driving for street use, but there does need to be an option to defeat it - they have chosen to optimize for no regen via accelerator pedal for the predictability of it…

there is always weight transfer agree - for any change in vehicle momentum - but the amount and magnitude should be predictable and I found it very very unpredictable and highly variable in my Model 3 performance - but as with all things YMMV…

the new 2026 F1 engine regulations are causing problems for the best driver's in the world - because depending on the state of the battery (how full or empty it is) they are getting different levels of braking into the braking zone and corner entry - they are locking up tires because there is no consistent/predictable braking from lap to lap to lap…they can't refine/optimize their braking for _THE_ highest performance driving in the world because of the lack of predictable braking behavior…this is playing out in real time right now in F1 due 50/50 split between ICE motor and EV motor and the need to harvest energy and deploy it…there is a great video about this problem on F1 TV right now that talks about brake bias and rear vs front brake bias and how depending on battery state the driver's get more or less of this bias when they go to the brake pedal - this is causing a lack of consistency from lap to lap depending on battery state…it's driving them nuts - and these are literally the best drivers in the world…with the most extreme hardware and 100's of engineers Tuning these cars almost in real time - and they can't handle the unpredictability of braking in a regen world…

if you want an example of my post from 2 years ago - go watch some of the F1 testing session videos with commentary about all the tire lock ups and the driver's complaining about lack of consistency…

our EV's are not F1 cars and having a larger battery helps with this problem - but the core issue remains - lack of consistency due to battery state/status is a real problem for driver's…

I apologize but I did not read the whole thread, as this topic always brings out the same for/against discussions.

I will add, however, that if you buy the MapEV upgrade, not only will you get more power but you also have the option to increase the amount of regen that happens when you have regen on.
