My 2021 CT4 is in with Porsche now to have the onboard charger replaced under warranty. Or so I thought as the service manager rang me later the same day telling me that a software upgrade had negated the need for replacement… so why didn’t they do the software upgrade in November when the fault was diagnosed? ..and how didn’t they know about this fix when I handed the car over for an expected three days?
Something doesn’t ring true here.
Picking the car up later today…..shame as the GTS loan car is lovely

Feel like your trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

They might not have known about the software upgrade, or the software upgrade was still in a testing phase and yet to be relased.

And in regards to not changing the charge I would think its most likely they werent sure if a software patch/upgrade would fix the issue

Ja5on's right in that it doesn't sound a big deal....

Maybe ask them what sort of deal they'll do you on the GTS since they were so kind to lend it to you and the bit if buggering about you've had.
You never know ?

Funnily enough my car went in for the main battery recall check and PCM update on Tuesday. And....

Got a call saying when they plugged in the diagnostic kit the 12V battery died suddenly (despite it driving perfectly with no faults until they plugged it in)

The said the 12V battery was on back-order till February and they were organising a hire car till then..... Gutted!! .... I made later call to check progress on the hire car and to arrange dropping of the Macan loaner I was in - and they then said the fault was on the 12V charger not the battery itself and whilst the 12v battery was showing at fault and depleted , they would try a slow recharge - no guarantees it would work. ....

Then I got a call saying my car was fine I could come and collect it.... Oh Joy!! ... When I arrived I was told the problem has been a historical 12V charger error code - had caused a diagnostic error - They had trickle charged the 12V battery, cleaned the error codes out of the car's log and updated the main PCM code as planned and all was sorted.

Personally, I think perhaps the technician may have mistakenly read the historical error code as a present one, and had triggered the armageddon response unnecessarily... but I will never know. .... Just glad they sorted it in the end...

Did you get an error about charging port being impaired? If so, it’ll return and they’ll have to replace that shit.

Apologies everyone I’m not trying to stir up trouble and don’t get me wrong Im delighted the cars fixed although I was never aware of any problem to start with?
I never saw an error code to answer an earlier question. The car went for its first service in October and the onboard charger was reported as Faulty so they needed the car back again to put it on a diagnostic test for 48 hours. The car went back as requested in November for a week and failed the very last test they did on it so it was going to need a charger shipped from Germany. The car goes back again yesterday booked in for three days and yes the GTS was terrific and apparently my cars now fixed with a software update that took only a few hours.
Happy bunny here.

I had similar situation with 2024 new Taycan GTS.. Error message flashing up etc "Charging ports impaired": Initially charge port Sensors replaced but problem persisted. Eventually Porsche Ireland admitted onboard charger was only working "intermittently". Replaced under warranty. All good so far. Was without my car for 42 days! TBF Porsche Roadside assistance were really good and I had replacement BMW 530e within few hours. This was costing Porsche approx €110 per day via Enterprise Car Rental! I guess its built into the initial purchase price of the car!! I must admit my trust in the car has been severely impacted though! Would I take it on a long distance journey outside my comfort zone? Not too sure TBH. Absolutely fab car to drive though!!!
