For those who use a battery tender/conditioner on their Taycan 12V battery, how did you get the power wire out from the frunk area? (Other than leaving the frunk open - we are parked outside so that's not an option.). It seems that the area flats shut all around the bonnet, and also there is a little wall at the top where the windscreen washers go. Couldn't quite figure out how to run the cable without crushing it.

Sveinaan: have you got a picture of the routing of the wire under that plastic cover? I'm about to route my ctek to proper connections on the battery posts, terminating with the traffic light plug. Would be interested in what you did.

Thanks

Even better I think would be to get a garage to install a Magcode socket. Anyone done that?

The plug is super easy to attach and remove.

we would need to find a place on the car to put it though. I see that some 911 owners have put it near the front number plate although they are doing so in the back of the car where it doesn’t have a 150mph wind….

My original question was less about where to put the clips, but more how we route a cable out of a locked waterproof area without crushing it. I guess feeding it through the corner is the best, but it is still crushed.

I guess the risk is just that the cable may break, but there could be a worst case where the positive lead shorts to the car and … bang.

To connect the cable to the positive terminal, remove the cover that hides the + terminal from the battery.

I discovered the same with the positive terminal a few days ago.

HOWEVER, your negative should not directly connect to the battery. I think I read that it may confuse the car’s battery monitor and cause problems with the HV battery topping it up. The negative of the CTEK charger should be attached to the chassis ground point from

I used to have to use a CTEK but since the latest 12 Volt Switch software / firmware update no longer need it as the main battery now keeps the 12 Volt battery topped up correctly as it always should have. Got back from three weeks away with no problems just leaving car switched off. Worth getting the latest 12 Volt Switch update.

That's great to hear, your car was particularly badly affected and died all the time.

Since the negative terminal of the battery is connected directly to the car's chassis, it doesn't matter where you connect it.
