Hey all,
I wanted to share with you my "new to me" pride and joy Taycan 4S P+.
10 years ago, I entered the Porsche world by the sedan door. Coming from the Audiworld (see my nickname), the Panamera Turbo MY2010 was my first Porsche. Black/black combo with PDDC, Sport Chrono, PSE and sport seats, I immediately fell in love with the perfect combination between luxe and sport, confort and precision. I've been less impressed with the poor reliability. Then I decided to swap it for a 2015 Panamera Turbo S Exclusive Series 1/100. I thought it would be a keeper, the ultimate Panamera, the holy Graal. And it was, it has been perfect in every sense. The most fantastic ride I ever owned. And a fantastic depreciation too...
As it turns out France is currently chasing gas guzzling vehicles, the market for big V8s is decreasing day after day. New ICE cars with more than 150Hp are penalized with a 60,000€ tax! Hybrid and EV are the only customer choices.
As an IT guy, geek to some aspects, I had to lean towards the future. 2 years ago, the wife received an EV (TM3) as a company car... So I thought it was the right time for me to take the plunge for a Porsche EV...
The Taycan 4S is certainly not a keeper. I'll lease it for 3 years...
But knowing the Porsche little game of the optional equipments, I was able to build my own list of mandatory rigns and bells:
White body, contrasting panoramic roof, PSCB with Mission-e wheels : the Stormtrooper.
Rear steering wheels, Bose, passenger screen, ACC, among some other goodies were on the list too.
Then I found the precious : a pristine MY2022 Taycan 4S P+, 1 owner with 18,000 Miles and 42,000€+ worth of add-ons in the perfect to me combination (flat white, black leather interior and Sport design package as a bonus). I took the plunge with little hesitation.
Delivery day was last Tuesday. The Porsche Dealer has been perfect : the car has been beautifully detailed and we got flowers, champagne + some goodies...
The first trip has consisted in driving back home: 440 kms/ 275 miles with one charge half way. First Ionity charging station experience : first success. 20 minutes later (150->100 kW and 45% to 85%), we were back on the highway cruising 100 Mph with AC on and Apple music loud.
We reached home with 22% and plugged the Taycan to the wall charger. Next morning the battery was full. No hassle, no worries. The assorted cat of the house seems to like it already, according to the security cam...
Today, I commuted with the Taycan. I never did it with the Panamera. But the Panamera was way less agile, not adapted at all to the Paris traffic and roads. Nothing like this with the Taycan. It is so relaxing there is not anxiety driving it in heavy traffic.
Underground parking lot of Paris La Defense is a sweet spot for some early shots. From is PPF protected and the full body is immaculate.
Of course the Panamera is way more luxurious than the Panamera. Some others owners here have already mentioned it. Material, look and feel, isolation are another levels. But, tech in the Taycan is so impressive, suspension confort, precision of steering, stability and general handling are way better. Plus the Taycan 4S is as performant as the Panamera 970 Turbo S. No compromise.
No look back and no regret at all so far. France has a great fast charging station network (300KW+) already and it contributes to a successful experience with Taycan on long runs. 20 minutes stop is not a big deal every 2 hours. So I see no cloud for the time being.
What I like the most so far:
The way it looks
The PCM 6.0 (fast and intuitive when your familiar with Porsche)
The suspension comfort
The steering precision
What is not so good:
The generative breaking, not impressive
Some materials prone to scratches and rattles (nothing you can't fix with some good PTFE spray)
Wind noise little higher than the Panamera (I guess I will miss the insulated glass)
I already learned a lot on this board, I'm glad to be here.
