Tonight I noticed my 2022 RWD making a strange noise while stationary. It's louder in Reverse than in Drive, and the noise disappears in Park. Never heard it before. The A/C and seat ventilation are off. Any ideas?

Can’t tell from your recording — is the sound different than the legally required pedestrian warning audio? It makes sense that the pedestrian warning audio is louder to the rear when engaged in reverse.

Don't think it is anything to do with the Pedestrian warning - it is the same regardless of direction of travel - this sounds like something few of us have experienced.

My car does the same. I just got back from a run and decided to do the same test that you did. Turned off the radio and AC. Opened the drivers window. Put the car in Park and there is a definite noise from the back of the vehicle. Put it into drive the the noise stays at the same level, but put it into reverse and the sound increases. The noise is the same, just louder. I did this twice just to make sure that my ears were not playing tricks on me. I would say that the noise sounds more like the rumble of an IC type motor, so I would guess it is the 'pedestrian' warning.

Thanks all for your comments and actions. The sound just appeared and it's still a mystery.

@Wakesurfer my Taycan doesn't make the noise while in Park. The noise is only in Drive, Neutral, and Reverse (loudest).

I hope someone in the USA can post a file on this thread with the Taycan's pedestrian-warning sound.

To me it sounds like the pedestrian warning sound.
