I have read that they have chosen this speed because above this tire and road noise is supposed to be sufficient to do the job. Otherwise they might as wel leave it on with all speeds. You cant really hear it inside the car anayway.
That could well be the theory, but in my personal experience, I always had the problem in the Tesla, I never have it in my 911, I have had it in the Taycan if the sound is off (eg, range mode), but not when I turn the sports sound on. I “think” it is helpful by drawing attention in part because it is weird, which makes it noticeable because it stands out a bit.

I know someone through a friend who hit and killed a pedestrian. It was actually a child. Everyone agreed that the driver did absolutely nothing wrong and could not have avoided it, but their life was ruined after this. I don’t want to go through anything remotely similar. I know that the sound will not ensure that nobody will walk out (eg, headphones — very common—or kids), but if it could help, I will spend the little extra, particularly because I can turn it off whenever I want.

I definitely do not view it as “enhancing the driving experience”, but it doesn’t annoy me either.

Motorway driving - off.
City Driving - safety and general coolness - on.
Back road/weekend driving - Sport Mode and on.

I would 100% spec again but would like it louder for those times and do want it on!
