Taycan battery fully discharged (including 12v)…. any issues?

Hi everyone,

I have a tacan that was not used for awhile, and it had lost its all charges, including the 12v battery, hence it has no respond at all!

with the key I was able to open one door, and located the port to connect a booster battery, however, wanted to check first if there are any dangers or DOs/DON’Ts.

Any help, comments or suggestions are welcome.

Unfortunately, we don’t have roadside service in here, and the car is at home parked for well over a year(long story) and was hoping to get it charge to be able to drive it to the docks, to send it for service….

Is the main battery can be damaged by not charged for so long?

It is going to depend on what charge level you left the main battery before parking it for storage.
If you left it on a very low state of charge (say less than 10%), then the extended period of staying at that charge level likely damaged the HV battery permanently. Colder / freezing temps would have made this even worse.

I don't know what Porsche recommends, but I would think storage for long periods at 50% SoC would be ok.

Thanks for that! Unfortunately, it was an unplanned storing, so by the time it was noticed, and would have been able to deal with it, was all gone flat…..

Assume this would be not a cheap repair than!?!?

Swapping the main battery with a used one will take around 12-16 K for the battery + working hours (25-30?)

Before scaring the OP with estimated costs, I suggest first calling your nearest OPC, possibly Portsmouth or Bournemouth, to ask for their advice.

Impossible to say at this point.

I would suggest recovering the 12V using the link posted above. If you can get the 12V going, the display will come on and show you the HV battery charge. If you see errors on the display, then yea its probably a tow to have it looked at.

Here in the USA, all EVS are required to have an 8-yr/100k mile warranty on the battery.
Do you not have something similar in other countries where the Taycan is sold?

Also, I'm unsure whether storing the car in the manner described by the OP would void the warranty or not.

Not sure about the warranty options and rules, yet the car had miles in the hundred, not in thousand since I have bought it…

Also, the rules and procedures are very different here from everywhere else…. ( again a long story…)

You need to use a 12V jump source to power the hood release, there is no mechanical option.
