Finally, after ordering this some 18 months ago......
A beautifully engineered item and easy to mount after a bit of induction!

I've got one to collect. How do you remove the 2 panels on the bumper to fit the rack please?

Thanks

I’m getting mine fitted whilst at the dealer for other fault repairs and keen to see how easy this is to fit and remove…
I think there is a tool supplied to remove the covers from what I’ve seen on a promo video.

The tool is in a little plastic case in your frunk. It’s a little 90 degree bent piece of metal with a handle.

Is there instructions? I'm worried about breaking the plastic

You put the little tool in the slot and pull hard straight out. You won’t break the plastic.

Does the bike rack prep option make any visible changes to the rear bumper? Eg covers, catches, notches etc?
I’m considering specifying it ‘just in case’ but I probably wouldn’t if it made any visible changes that would be detracting.

A little off thread - apologies - but I cancelled my original order before it even arrived after going with Willy's Bars (Forum mbr.s build) - night and day in respect clean and minimalist design I was looking for, yet rock solid (zero movement) and with my added low profile LED light setup I have ALL the functionality of the lighting of the OEM design.

Realize 100% that this setup may not be fully road legal in the UK and other parts of EU but def the best setup I've owned to date and so simple to quickly attach and detach/store (I've had many over last 30 years including the BMW equivalent of the current Porsche offering and really disliked the (imo) 'clunky' design of that too).

But of course an entirely personal opinion in respect appeal/choice and if whatever you use gets your bikes safely to where they need to go then every option a good one! :)

No - invisible.

The cover on either side of the bumper obviously clips on and off but is an integral part of the bumper design and is a cosmetic triumph.

Great to hear - definitely worth ticking the box then. Thanks.

I think it's a great idea to spec this on order as you cannot retrofit it.
The two plastic covers pull off with the supplied tool - the most difficult bit was fitting them back in afterwards!
You need to be really firm to smack them back in so that the lugs engage.

Fitting the rack itself became pretty apparent quite quickly (even though the technician was trying to get me to just take the box away without opening it!).
It takes a couple of installs to get used to it - I'd call it positive engagement of the mechanism onto the frame.

It's a beautifully manufactured item and I can see why it costs what it does.
Make sure Porsche give you a number plate when you collect it....
(ie ask for it before you go).
