Hey guys, new here and a new owner. Just got this quote for my 2021 Taycan RWD with 29k miles, both w/ $250 deductible and before tax. Seems about in-line with the ~$1k/year some others have seen. What do you guys think?
  • 8 year (5 remaining) - $5404
  • 9 year (6 remaining) - $6377
Just bought warranty from Porsche - 96 months/60K/$250 ded for $4,388 which is only 4 years past the original warranty but it matches the battery warranty.

Thanks for the reply, seems comparable and making me more comfortable with the quote.

Just got another one in that ballpark per year for a 10yr 100k miles and the $250 deductible.

To be fair to its U.S. customers I think Porsche should post retail prices for warranty extensions. I tried to get quotes from 3 or 4 dealers both in and out of California and most didn't come up with a quote despite a couple indicating they would do so.

I can’t respond directly, but . . .

Use care in selection of warranty provider.

https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/new...ontracts-pay-10-million-resolve-federal-trade

it ain’t going to be easy. The above company appears on the recent 2024 recommended list of USA Today, Forbes and Cars.com. For example:

https://www.usatoday.com/money/homefront/auto-warranty/best-car-warranty-companies/

And is the dealer going to give you a hard time (assuming you can use them for repairs under the warranty plan) if you don’t use the warranty plan they sell?
I got the best warranty on a Taycan. ?
Got rid of it.
Tired of dealing with snobby Porsche dealers.
2nd but last Porsche.
Cheers!

I sent out a request for quotes to 15 different dealers. Most were in Texas and the others were dealers who others on this forum have mentioned such as:
  • Chandler, AZ
  • Carlsbad, CA
  • Beaverton, OR
Ultimately, I ended up purchasing a 96-month, 60,000-mile, $250 deductible VSP plan from Kelli Parker ([email protected]) of Porsche San Antonio for $4,063. My 2021 4S had 23,036 miles at the time of purchase.

It was interesting to see some dealers insist that they could offer no better than the retail pricing and only for 100,000 miles (96-month, 100,000-mile, $100 deductible @ $9,681 or $250 deductible @ $8,393) and others immediately offered "wholesale" pricing at a 60,000 mile limit (96-month, 60,000-mile, $100 deductible @ $4,987 or $250 deductible @ $4,663).

Porsche Carlsbad (Brandon Kimberlin [email protected]) and Porsche San Antonio were the two most aggressive dealerships who quoted less than "wholesale" and Porsche San Antonio's quote ended up being the lowest.

Great info. Thanks @SpicewoodT and also thanks for driving me around in your car 3 years ago, helping me decide if a Taycan was the right car to buy. This is the best car I’ve ever had. ?

My pleasure! ? My wife and I were at Baguette et Chocolat a few weeks ago and that memory came up.

I agree, my Taycan is my favorite car I've owned and I decided to buy the extended warranty to enjoy it for at least another 4 years while reducing any concerns about it's long-term reliability.

One thing to note about the Porsche Approved warranty: it's valid internationally. Several US people get it in Canada; similarly in Europe, getting it in Germany can be cheaper.

Yes, definitely pays to shop around -- I saved a full thousand dollars just by emailing some places, along with my crack negotiating skills (hah!) of telling my servicing dealer that I could buy it for a thousand dollars less at another dealer.

But I'm pretty sure that there's no retail vs wholesale here on selling these Safe-Guard plans.
Each dealer most likely has the same pricing from Safe-Guard, and what they want to sell these plans at is entirely up to the discretion of each dealer, with discounts possible for each individual buyer.

Agreed, it seems the dealerships are given a recommended list price vs. a buy rate and then they can offer pricing anywhere in that range. Some dealers are definitely more willing to offer pricing which reduces their profit than others.
