2nd time driver window has stuck in mild frost and destroyed itself internally when attempring to open…..
maybe a fuse or auto over ride breaker should be fitted to protect the mechanism ?

Tesla workaround for this is to periodically move the windows up and down slightly when it's freezing outside. It's a software only solution (initially deployed over-the-air), so zero hardware costs, but it prevents the glass from freezing to the rubber gaskets.

So porsche can't do it, because it is software, got it.

So the car can't be parked outside in freezing temps, can't be parked near buildings and can't be parked in buildings because of fire. So the only conclusion, for parking, is to submerge it into oils - non inflammable ones.

Just use some silicon based gel for rubber seals. So far I have managed to open door down to -20 with no problem and use it as well around the glass seal. Not just Taycan related though…

Or you could just put on preheating before leaving? But maybe you will run out of 12 volt battery then….? Ach well.

Sadly, the answer is probably yes. It costs Porsche too much money to update software, especially that they didn't manage to get the over-the-air updates working, despite having the hardware in the Taycans since the first production year. The best hope might be that it will at some point become a workshop campaign for J1.2 cars (update firmware while in service for something else), but there is no financial motivations for Porsche to update J1 cars anymore. It might make it into J2 cars, whenever they show up.

The only thing shared by porsche and Tesla is the Nazi origin of their founders.

Yeah thats what i thought my window was doing yesterday. But searched online. I am 100% sure this is not a Taycan thing. Found some old 911 post. Window moving up and down can be sign of some actuator or whatever electronic mechanism failing. No idea.

Frozen windows are a pain....I just bang on them a bit and they free up.

Try using silicone gel on the seals to prevent sticking, and preheating the car can also help. A software fix like Tesla's would be great, but it doesn’t seem likely from Porsche anytime soon.

Does the silicone gel smear on your windows?

I have used gummy pflege ( I am not affiliated nor make money off the brand) for a long time and it’s excellent. No smear nor anything just do not push to much or it will smear everything :) it’s transparent and once cured nothing to see nor to smell. One little bottle last forever…keeps the rubber soft all year round and prevents ice from forming on the surface or the rubber to cook when extremely hot…
