Hey everyone, I have a 2020 Taycan 4S and have been experiencing an issue with the parking brake over the past week. When I try to engage it, the car attempts to apply the brake, but then a fault message appears. Sometimes, after repeated attempts, the fault goes away.

I took it to the dealership, but they claim the gearbox needs to be replaced, which I believe is not accurate. I’ve read on forums that others have had similar issues, so I’m hoping to hear from anyone who has experienced this and what they did to resolve it.

Thanks in advance.

Gearbox?

Not heard of this issue before and would have thought it applies the disc pads to the rotors and unrelated to the motor / gearbox. I'm no mechanic but it does sound like a random response. Try a goodwill gesture fix - 3 yr warranty (?), can't be long past it.

Man these guys on Porsche told me that already changed 3 parts and none of those worked, and I told them that in this forum people were getting the same error and part of it was from the back actuator on the parking brake
I’ve seen those
I asked because those are at least a year and a half older than mine.

How timely. Today I got a tranmission error saying it's okay to drive "with adjustment". Then when I tried to put it in park, got the warning saying the parking brake is not available and the car may roll.....

Not sure but I'd say somehow they are related. Thankfully, I already have an appointment at the dealer for recall set for Wednesday.

I also got a motor fault....

My first thought was maybe my 12 volt battery is dying because it has been my experience weird things happen on Porsches when the battery gets weak.

Unlike some EVs, the Taycan has both a parking brake and a parking pawl. The TSB refers to the parking brake, which is a separate drum brake. This is not the rear rotors and pads, but a drum and shoes acuated by an electric solenoid. That solenoid can fail or jam. In your case, if they checked the parking brake and it is not the problem, it is indeed possible that the parking pawl in the transmission is not working.
