I'm actually surprised with the number of you who bought their Taycan instead of leasing it. I mean the resale of any EV has been from start challenging as the 2nd hand market is nearly inexistant. The 8 year battery warranty currently determines the entire car lifecyle (while EV battery recon process is not widely spread) and depreciation is taking a major hit because any 2nd hand user considers this. Taycan is no different from other EV.

I leased a second hand MY22 Taycan 4S from Porsche dealership for that reason: I didn't want to deal with the resale issue. 1100€ montly lease with 18k downpayment with seemed the sweet spot for me. In 2 years I'll be out for the same kind of deal for a MY25 Turbo. Meanwhile I enjoy driving this marvel of a car with no regret.
This was exactly my reasoning. I have an operational lease without buy back obligation at the end of contract. All repairs are included in the lease.

I do need to sell it, due to my daily commute changing and requiring 3x the range that the Taycan currently gives me. I am inlove with the machine and wouldn't have changed it unless I needed to. I already am flexible with the price, but I'm not giving it away for free haha

Second hand EV market is just insane, I couldn't have guessed that a year ago, looks like I'll keep my wife's etron for now, but I'll be going for a PHEV if anyone comes around and buys the Taycan...
You should just do trade in. Ir’s naive to think that an old iPhone has lots of value.

I’m keeping an eye on the used market here in NL and still see roughly same number of available Taycans. They are still sold, more than I would expect based on what I constantly read here. Probably different market. But as a private seller you need price it very low to sell..

I’m not going to sell my Taycan coming years anyway. Deprecation is relatively high, but will level out over the years. In the meantime I will save €10K a year on fuel, pretty sure that will offset extra depreciation ?

I don’t lease/finance anything. Just don’t like the idea and want to own my stuff and keep full flexibility what I do with it.

Well-priced examples do sell indeed. I am watching a handful of cars (mostly because of the academic interest) - and out of 5 vehicles three are sold within a month, albeit they had to discount them heavily (pre-registered 11/2023 Turbo S £116k->£112k, pre-registered 10/2023 4 £92k-£89k, 3000 miles 10/2023 GTS £108K->£94K).

All these were cars from the official Porsche dealer with all the reasonable expectations that they would take care of any issues (and of course the new car warranties) - I am dreading to think what sort of price should be tempting on a slightly more used for a private sell of a slightly older car....

This is exactly the sort of mindset among the general public that causes so many issues with reselling EVs. Cell phones are heavily subsidized and built with truly planned obscelesence. If the public wants to apply that same thinking to an electric car, the industry or governments will have to take action so owners can recover part of their investment when they are ready to buy a newer EV.

Either that or we all give up the idea of vehicle ownership in favor of basically long term rentals.

It's registered 2023, can't call it old mate.
Too bad, for cars, its old as soon as it leaves the lot. EV, worse. My 2024 is 184k cad before tax. I would be lucky if i can get 130k today.

Although leasing may well work for many (particularly with business tax incentives) it is still worth remembering the following.

Leased cars still end up on the used market. And a flooded market reduces all used values.

And the lease company actually aim to make a profit, believe it or not.

So they buy and sell the car, and rent it to you in the middle - adding a profit for themselves, which you pay for (but maybe heavily tax incentivised).

Tell that to a Porsche dealer. The lots are brimming with used taycans of all shapes and ages. Very sad view considering how wonderful these machines are…
Things may get better after a General Election when direction of travel is known. At the moment we are in the pre election mire of BS and faux promises.

EV demand - especially at the higher prices - is very soft right now, world-wide. I think it will stabalize in a year or two. As a data point, my $170k MSRP 2021 Turbo has a resale of around $90k now (with only 10k miles).

I leased a 2020 4S in 2020, and bought it out in August 2023. I bought the Porsche 84 month insurance policy for 5k and will drive it out to the end of the insurance period. I tend to keep my cars for a decade minimum, and thus spread the depreciation over a long period of time. I love the car and won't worry about the incremental improvements to successors along the way. When the Cayman E is available, I plan to trade my '09 997S and go all electric, save the 2012 Cayenne for runs to the dump.
