My guess is that you have never owned or driven or GT3.
…so if you own a GT3, you aren’t responsible for how you drive it? Sorry, I’m confused about what point you’re trying to make.

I’m not sure if I understand what point you’re trying to make?

Are you saying that if I own a GT3 I’ll lose all self control and won’t be able to stop myself from driving it recklessly?

I’ve owned 2 911s and mostly behaved myself with them.

I completely understand, it’s not commensurate with a 6 figure car….but you knew that when you purchased it, no?

The base model is way too slow for its price. I agree. We had one as a loaner and even coming from just a 4S it felt like a dog. That 5.1s to 60 is with launch control too…

I’m no speed demon but merging into the freeway at 75-85MPH I felt a huge difference. Accelerating above that speed was startlingly better in the 4S.

My 21 year old 350Z feels nearly as fast (I am aware it is slower).

The base model is just slow off the line (0-30mph) because it is software limited to keep a gap with the heavier 4S. But from 49 mph - 75mph the RWD with PB+ is just 0.4sec slower than the 4S so I would seriously doubt you feel a huge difference. When I floor it while rolling at any speed, it feels really fast and responsive and most traffic disappears in the rearview mirror very fast :) That being said, I do agree that for the money it should be a sub 5 seconds car...

I’m a 4S owner an had a loaner 4CT last week. To be honest I did not feel that much of a difference. On the highway when you floor the car, it missed a little punch, but that was all. For a daily, the RWD/4 have plenty power. And Porsche should not feel bad about making the RWD/4 ‘slow’.

We should not be fooled by the Tesla Model 3 and its specs. Yeah it is faster, but a completely different car. Taycan is a luxury limousine with sporty enhancements, and Tesla is ‘normal’ sedan kind of vehicle where software and 0-60 times are the unique selling points.

If we want to compare, lets compare the Taycan with a Maserati Quattroporte. Both in the same segment, although the Maserati is an ICE, the 0-60 times are almost identical. I never heard complaints about Maseratis being slow.

Dont forget that the 2WD Taycan still has phenomenal speed off the line.
I drove one back to back with a GTS and the GTS really only pulls away noticeably
when speeds become illegal. (I was on a track)

No one talks about 0-30mph. This is real world speed and usability.

My favourite statistic:

When the bubble car BMW i3 was launched it was the fastest car 0-30 that BMW sold!
It had bicycle wheels and not much power but faster 0-30 than all the willy waggling
boy racer 'M' brigade.

In the real world the 2WD drive Taycan (and CT4) is quicker than any ICE vehicle except
a £500,000 supercar and it goes round corners quicker than most of them too.

Save yourself a fortune and get the incomparable Taycan experience in a 2WD Taycan.
(Just don't be silly with the extras, you just don't need them)

If I was buying another Taycan I would buy a 2WD all day long.

I am following my own advice by buying a Macan 4 because the 2WD not available and I need a car and that is the cheapest one available at the moment. I will add NO MORE than £3000 of extras.

The i3 is still in many ways the most logically engineered EV but people are conservative and don’t understand better being different. Same with Toyota’s E-CVT they did a mode for Lexus customers with fixed ratios, making it worse but familiar ?‍♂

I have a CT4 and I love it. It’s generally fast enough for me but every once in a while I wish it had just a bit more oomph.

As far as your comment about 500K supercars, you might want to rethink that.

That’s an enormous difference. And I understand the car is software limited but the reality is it feels slow. 0-30 is a lot of city driving where the base Taycan suffers. The CT4 is better - I’ve driven that one too. I would describe its speed as adequate.

Not trying to rain on anyone’s parade but the base car is unacceptably slow IMO. Porsche made it that way to make the 4S worthwhile. I’ve no doubt it could be better with a small software update but…I’m not about to do that on a car this complex.

I have a 2021 RWD, love the driving dynamic, however is so slow, 0-60 5.1 sec. The only EVs that can beat are Nissan Leaf and Chevy Bolt and perhaps the smaller battery Model Y which is embarrassing. I heard that the new RWD have different acceleration mappin that makes the car feel faster. Has anyone asked the dealer for throttle mapping update?
or trade in for 25. New motor, more power, and boost button w/Chrono.

I'd say the RWD is plenty fast. I had a BMW i4 M50 before, sold it and got a fully loaded RWD Taycan. Did test drive the 4s but i kept comparing it to the M50 and it felt slow. For some reason I didn't have that feeling at all in the RWD, i just like how it drives. Yes its noticeable slower when you floor it from 0, but in return, the driving dynamics are great.
