That’s the same error message I received before understanding you have to use the Tesla app (other posters have said PlugShare app as well) to determine if non-Teslas (or maybe Porsches specifically) are supported at that particular Supercharger.
That experience is what prompted me to create my post on the first page of this thread.
Sorry to hear of these glitches

Sorry to hear of the glitches. With the Tesla app, if the location isnt compatible it just doesnt appear on the map. So for SLO, only the 2 locations appear. However that doesn't seem to explain the issue at the Cabazon location, which does appear to be the 1 that is compatible..
Also one of the Irvine locations (didnt screenshot the other that didn’t work), which if you look up is also supposed to be compatible.

Right, two SC3 stations are available in SLO. However, in nearby Los Osos there is a SC4 station which is marked in the Tesla App as compatible for non-Teslas. So that is the third station I tried (pump 3C, as shown below, along with the SC4 analysis of the connection).

I recently purchased the NACS to CCS adapter from Suncoast parts. I tried it with two supercharger locations in Michigan (Portage and Battle Creek) but neither one worked. I got an error message each time and I tried two different chargers at each station. Is there any reason tor think that this might be a problem with my Taycan? It charges just fine at other fast chargers (like EA).

Based on the other posts in this thread, it seems like some Tesla superchargers are not yet set up to communicate with Taycans. Is that sort of the consensus?

I’ve contacted Porsche and they are looking into this. I have not found a way to contact Tesla, except to use their AI assistant.

Are the Tesla Supercharger stations in the Tesla app for charge your other EVs? Did you select the charger number? Payment info configured in Tesla? Could be the adapter as well. I've successfully charged my Taycan at Tesla Superchargers in MA and NY with a Ford CCS <> NACS adapter. I had an issue with an A2Z adapter.

Thanks for taking the time. Yes, the SCs are in the Tesla app for both EVs. Yes, selected charger station number from App. Yes, payment info configured and successfully used (also tried Apple Pay at the SC4 in Los Osos, CA). Porsche adapter has been verified to work with Tesla by successfully charging my Ioniq6 with it. I got the Porsche adapter on the possibility that the A2Z wasn't working for the Taycan.

Yes the stations are listed in the Tesla App for charging other EVs. And at one station, there was another non-Tesla charging with an adapter. Payment information is entered correctly, and I selected the correct charger. I can’t prove that the adapter is working unless i find someone willing to test it for me.

Sorry, I answered questions directed to Gadzoo ... since we both have the same problem I thought the questions were directed to me. Yesterday I sent a long note to Porsche customer support describing my experience with Tesla SCs.

I'd like to set up a poll regarding folks who have gotten set up to charge at a Tesla SC. Could someone point me to how to do that? I can't seem to find it. Thanks.

I thought I'd post an update on my efforts to charge my Taycan at our local Tesla SCs. From what I can tell most everyone is being successful using Tesla SC with the occasional exception that some SC stations aren't currently accepting non-Teslas. All the SCs I've tried locally do accept non-Teslas and, apparently, other Taycans (according to my Porsche dealer) ... just not my car.

To recap, I'm signed up with Tesla and have successfully charged another EV at the same Tesla SCs. I have the Porsche-labeled adapter and that adapter has worked fine with my other EV.

As to charging the Taycan, I've tried two SC3 and two SC4s in my area. In every case either an "unexpected error" is reported by the Tesla App or "unauthorized vehicle" from the Tesla App.

The Taycan always recognizes that a charge is being initiated but not current ever passes into the car.

I've asked my local Porsche dealership for help in figuring out where the problem is. I'm still waiting to hear what they suggest. While my car is still under warranty, I'm not sure such warranty actually covers being able to charge at Tesla through an adapter.

No idea whether my experience is totally unique or represent some sort of repairable condition in the Tesla (that's why I was hoping to do a poll of Tesla SC users).

I can't help you with your poll but I can provide some anecdotal evidence that it's your car or account/app that is the problem. I tested charging at Tesla before a recent road trip (using the Lectron adapter). Open the app, pick your station and presto. Drove from Florida to NJ, around NJ and PA and back to Fl. I relied almost exclusively on Tesla stations. (I still have "complementary" charging but EA has been so bad I would rather pay Tesla for reliable charging than hope EA works reliably). I used 10 to 12 different Tesla stations, which were shown as open to non-Tesla vehicles, and every one worked seamlessly. Max charge rate was 135/140 kW (the best a Taycan will get at a Tesla SC until true V4 stations get rolled out) but charging started very quickly and it held that rate to 70%+. So a decent number of different locations all worked as they should. I've also charged at Tesla with a newly acquired 2026 Audi e-tron GT with zero difficulties. So decent evidence that a J1.1 or J1.2 Taycan can use the Tesla network.

roughly 1/3 of all Tesla Superchargers remain off-limits to non-Teslas... I don't know if type-3 chargers are included in that grouping... Lots of Tesla Supercharger stations in the northeastern US remain off limits to our Taycans (according to the PlugShare and Tesla apps)...

I find that EA is much more reliable now in 2025 than it was a year ago... They've really upped their game. I can't fool around with the slow-for-our-Taycans Tesla-"Supercharger" speeds when I can access an EA charger nearby that charges so much faster, has longer cables for easier port access, requires no adapter, and is so much easier to initiate charging at via plug-and-charge (i.e., no need to use a phone at all)... I've had no problems charging at any EA station from Minnesota to Maine to North Carolina in the past year (and have found fewer occasions with a wait to charge than I've found at Tesla Superchargers this year).
