Go to another dealer and ask for finance quotes on your chosen spec and a test drive. Don’t tell them until later that you’ll lease it as a company car - then they’ll play ball. It’s the same with all dealers - no commission no interest.

I’ve told my daughter if I get the Porsche, the MR2 has to go. She was not impressed and considers that a perfect daily car ?

My weekly commute is 135 miles one way, perfect in that ?

So many Tesla’s at work now, each to their own….

Realistically it’s

low end = Polestar 2
mid = i4 M50
high = 4s CT

one thing is for sure, I need a car ?

Thanks for the help.

My shortlist was Polestar 2 or Taycan.
Very different I know but both great in their segment.

My mate has the Polestar, he loves it. Exterior looks great imho, unfortunately I can’t stand the interior fabrics and trim, not from photos at least.

I’ve spent hours running through Taycan quotes. I was that impressed by the overall package, I think I’d accept a drop in performance to make it happen. I would assume the RWD would be a nightmare in the winter without winter tyres.

No more than anything else on the road. Winters make a huge difference (had them on my M3 and on an E85 Z4 and an E46 325 now) so perhaps budget for them.

Seen good reviews on the RWD however when I spec’d a 4S with options and a lodes Turbo S, the difference was £80 per month on a salary sacrifice scheme so residuals play a significant part.
Get some numbers run.

ive had winters on my 640D and my Alfa Giulia, superb.

I have run many many numbers lol

I questioned the dealer about spec and particularly air suspension, I said I hear it’s a must, he disagreed and said the adaptive was good enough. I asked about speed bumps etc he said not an issue.

My musts are
1. Pan roof
2. perf batt (obviously standard on CT)
3. Folding mirrors
4. Auto dimming
5. surround parking
6. ideally Bose as I love my music

He said get good wheels, im not a fan of standard wheels, especially on the base cars, but I’d rather spend money elsewhere to be fair.

The car I test drove had base audio and it was among the worst I’ve heard in a new car so Bose is essential imo.
Agree on the mirrors.
The metal roof is beautiful in the right colour (I nearly kept the metal in my black) so have a think about that because wheel upgrades are a must. The only other potential ‘musts’ are charging upgrades (150kw public 400v maybe).

I think the extra weight low down gives the car better winter driving than a normal RWD ICE car? Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can chip in on this, especially as I don't have a CT?

I would also say on performance on base models.....
Compare with what you have just had (M135) and forget 0-60 mph.
Have a look at 0-200kph or even better 80-120 kp/h for 'real world' performance comparison.

My RWD saloon 'real world' is much faster than my M2 was.....despite the 0—60 favouring the M2.

My mate asked me, how many times did you launch your 1 series…. Big fat 0!

Its overtaking that matters and getting onto the motorway ultimately for me.

I really want the pan roof, it’s an absolute must for me.

such a shame the standard audio is so poor.

If I change the wheels and add Bose, I may as well go CT and enjoy the air suspension and better practicality.

I don’t see why (on a lease vehicle) I should be paying the cost of upgraded wheels over the 4 years, when I’ll be sat inside it ?

The base wheels are naff, but if it’s pan roof vs alloys, roof wins for me.

So a higher model with better standard wheels might work out to be be a better proposition on a lease due to residuals. CT has better wheels anyway so maybe look there.

That’s the conclusion I’m coming to, also comparing the RWD to the E Tron GT, the Audi is cheaper and better specced, so it’s the CT where the real advantages are.

I’m happy with solid white, think it suits the car, although the CT in dolomite looks amazing imho

Right,

options are thus.

RWD
Solid White
Slate grey part leather
20” turbo Aero
Performance plus battery
Air suspension
Pan roof
Bose
Folding mirrors
Auto Dimming mirrors
Surround cams

4 years 15k miles £989 incl insurance / tyres / services / tax (all quotes)

Cross Turismo 4
Solid White
Slate grey part leather
20” turbo S
Pan roof
Bose
Folding mirrors
Auto Dimming mirrors
Surround cams
£1041

Cross Turismo 4S

Solid White
Slate grey part leather
19” S Aero (getting too expensive to upgrade)
Pan roof
Bose
Folding mirrors
Auto Dimming mirrors
Surround cams
£1058

Any thoughts?

I’m happy enough with the 19” S aero’s which would bring the base CT down to £1031.
cheers
