I’m not sure I buy that. There’s only 54 Taycans on autotrader - thats bugger all. I suspect they’ve given you that line so they can offer a lower trade in price and therefore the make themselves even more profit when they sell a car on.
Totally agree :)

Just to add some colour to this.... As i am hopefully approaching Autumn delivery of my next Taycan I have started making a few enquiries with dealers to sell my current 4S. Interestingly a couple of them I have spoken to so far say they are sitting on more stock than they are comfortable with, and so I suspect the worm has turned or is turning as we speak... Cars will remain desirable but the huge over demand may be dissipating.
Well he would say that wouldn't he if he is starting to negotiate buying it ;)

The bit I perhaps wasn't clear about was that neither party I spoke to wanted to bid for the car. And it has a very salable spec (I think!). I hope you are all right, but I think everyone should have their eyes open currently, thats the message.

I think the difference for luxury cars like these, between huge over-demand and stock kicking around looking for buyers, is much less than we think...I agree its turned now as we head into inevitable recession in the autumn

Yep. And to think more will be coming...
Doesn't really seem like a customer centric Brand to date.
Further delays without explanation from the dealer, 2 price increases within a short period.
I appreciate Porsche are not alone with supply chain issues but no-one genuinely seems to care! I predict a wave of cancellations coming in the near future as the cost of living bites!

You're all gonna love this latest update...

Agree, i'd be pushing for a minimum future value. A good friend of mine did this a few years back when he was waiting on his new Cayene on a Boxter S.
So after the chat on the last few pages...

Spoke to the sales rep and one of the business managers on Friday about the 4S they'd offered me until the Turbo S finally arrives (now, likely, in 2023)

Asked about the minimum future value as G7SUM suggested and they couldn't guarantee anything. They possibly have done it before (this person hadn't) but they said that they couldn't for this situation as they don't know when the new car would be arriving.

Your friend maybe had a guaranteed date to work towards and they based it on that. Fair enough - I took them at their word for that.

Asked about possibly upgrading the wheels to Mission Es I wanted and that was too dear. They offered nothing up like buying them at factory prices internally as another posted suggested through their parts department. Could be £10k for all four wheels (did they think I would just buy two?) so it was quickly dismissed as an option. I'll put up with the specced ones on the 4s since it's only for a few months.

They're also offering a part exchange on my current car so there was a settlement figure on the table to discuss.

I said I'd go and speak to the wife about it that night and on that, they said they'd follow up on Saturday.

Anyway, for all there was very little coming from them in terms of a deal of any sort...

We just decided to go for it on the Friday night!

Figured I'm as well just having a Taycan for the summer months and it'll tide me over until the Turbo S arrives next year. Exciting times!!!

Call came in on Saturday morning and we agreed everything for payments etc and transferring a bit of the deposit on to this car. Their senior business manager was going to call later on to sort out coming in to the dealership etc etc.

We never heard from him but figured it was a Saturday and it'd just run to the Monday morning if he was busy.

I missed a call this morning from the garage and returned it just now.

Turns out they've sold the car to someone else - ON FRIDAY MORNING!

It didn't log on the system that one of the other managers was offering it up to another customer through one of the other sales reps.

All this had apparently happened and neither of the two teams knew what the other one was doing.

I was actually speechless on the phone.

Genuily couldn't believe it. After all the absolute shite we've been through with the piss-poor service from two reps who'd left the business and not told us and their week long shambles sorting out the finance that should have been done months before and only came up when we called to check...

I actually nearly committed to selling my car over the weekend to CarWow based on having a better offer on the table from them for the trade in.

I don't really have the words at this point.

The saddest part about all this is that nothing with Porsche sales surprises me anymore. I suspect there is a load of baloney being talked there...and that the real reason they sold it to someone else was based on getting offered more cash for it.

This will be my first Porsche and hands down the sales process has been the worst I have experienced in over 20 years....let's hope the car makes up for it when it arrives!

Christ that is almost laughably bad in how much of a clusterf*** Porsche is.

Do not give Porsche any more of your money, if not out of principle for this whole incident.

If you need an interim car, do what I did and get a "Taycan Lite".

That's a BMW I4 M Sport - you can probably pick up a cancelled order. Rybrook BMW Shrewsbury have a brand new one turning up early next month ?

The thought about having had a better offer did enter my head but I'd dismissed it on the basis that given they're an absolute shambles, this is exactly the sort of thing you'd expect from them.

Since they were offering basically nothing at all in terms of discounts on the situation or even "making good on a poor service so far" with a free Porsche mug for the kids, I'm not sure if anyone else was coming in paying even more over the odds for that car.

However, I guess it couldn't be ruled out completely...

It's taking me all my effort not to just tell them to stick it.

If it wasn't for the implications to tax on our business and that being part of the reason for buying the car initially anyway, today would have been the final straw I reckon.

Lol, cheers on the heads up at Rybrook. At this point my head is minced with it all and what I'll do. I'm going to have to have a think...

I'm also company car'ing my Taycan, but that's also why the I4 was such an easy decision - because it's my company buying it so I couldn't care less. Can write it off my corp tax bill, and the actual cost of purchase - sell price is unlikely to be anything less than £10k over 12 months. Based on Autotrader used prices I have already made a profit on it.

I literally got back to the UK having been living and working from very sunny places for a couple of months, first week back test drove the Cupra Born (meh), I4 (very impressed), Ioniq 5 (I officially hate SUVs) and the decision was obvious as an interim car. The alternative was ONTO, but I'm gambling buying will be cheaper.

Asked my local Bimmer dealer to phone around for anything in stock. She found two within a day, and a day later I had the car in the bag. Delivered to the UK today, pick up no later than early next week. The only thing missing was the upgraded sound system, but I'm adding an aftermarket amp so practically perfect.

If you need something temporary I would strongly recommend test driving the I4. For me it's the closest EV to a Taycan that isn't a Taycan.
