Isn‘t it just typical of Taycan that the day everything freezes over and you reach for the remote preheating button, the app has lost connectivity with the car?

Probably on the same basis that the first OTA software upgrade to fix bugs is scheduled for the day that hell freezes over.

I'd say that the majority of times I've been out and about and I think "ahh actually I can precondition so by the time I get back to the parked car it's not iced up", the connectivity fails and I'm left sat there waiting like an ICE driver. Similarly any morning I've not set a timer and need to leave quickly, it doesn't connect to start preconditioning.

I mainly blame Vodafone coverage in my area which is always rubbish

Yes although the Taycan seems quite reluctant to reconnect when it loses signal. And why doesn’t it connect to my front garden WiFi like any sensible car - I think it already has the hardware!

Exactly - there's no reason it shouldn't be able to connect to home wifi!

You should check your home wifi to see that it has a 2.4Ghz signal with a normal 20 or 40MHz bandwidth. Or better create a new ssid that uses only 2.4GHz and no 5GHz.

I have the same issue, my car will not charge on a type 2 charger home or work, but does at public on CCS. It has been back at Porsche twice now and still not fixed. Porsche are blaming software update. I know its not the chargers because we charge BMW,Toyota and minis using same charger and cables

It’s my understanding that the car does not use home WiFi as a route from app to car. Regardless of WiFi spec. Unless you have the newest model which may be different?

@Scandinavian and others were posting in this forum about lost remote connectivity starting at least four years ago: Pre-cooling

The app has changed, five Taycan model years have been produced, but lost remote connectivity (is it me?, is it software?, is it hardware?, is it Porsche?) remains a favorite forum topic.
;)

Connectivity to my old Turbo S was horrible. Haven’t yet had an issue with my new GT (on the same mobile network - Lebara). I have a WiFi repeater in my garage and the car connects to it automatically when I press the power button. Not sure if it will/would connect without the power switched on. Anyone?
