Prices are correcting with the world economy as it is and demand will likely pull right back soon.

Yes but Rolex make a very nice but mass produced watch and they have been manipulating the price/value by restricting supply for many years so if demand eases they will reduce the quantities appropriately.

Some of the grand watch houses have seen their success and are doing the same now too. Not sure it will last for them - their sales quantities are very much lower already so probably more volatile.

After months of waiting since putting my name in at a local Omega AD, I got the call over the holiday weekend and yesterday picked up my new Omega Speedmaster 57 green dial ?

Yes it appears a little large on my skinny wrist due to the 49mm lug to lug, but in person it wears really comfy and the size doesnt bother me at all visually ??

For a while I was going back n forth on what would be my first new Omega purchase (current ref Moonwatch vs 41mm Aqua Terra) and while I like the Speedy Pro, I felt like I was putting it on my 'to buy' list more because that's what everyone else in the watch community says one should buy, versus what I really wanted. Then they announced the manual wind 57 earlier this year and when I saw the first model in green, I was hooked and knew right away I wanted this and more important, it felt like a ME choice over the more ubiquitous Speedmaster Pro.

So I hit up my local AD who I have a purchase history and while they got the 57 in other dial colors, I was still set on the green dial. So for a few months there was no word of the green coming in, and finally my sales guy contacted their local Omega rep and was able to place a direct order with Omega for a green 57. I plunked down a deposit and was given an estimated delivery of 10-12 wks arrival which would have put the watch arrival around the winter break, close enough to Christmas time.

It was a pleasant surprise when I got the call from my AD in HALF that time (6 weeks) so I decided to wear my recently acquired Moon Swatch to go pick up the 57. It gave everyone at the AD a good laugh and I was chatting with their sales manager about the Swatch and even she had been hunting for them this year.

Picked up this tudor pelagos fxd a few months ago. Felt appropriate to wear today in bora bora (French Polynesia) given it was co designed with the French Marine Nationale

My son is in high school and has expressed interest in a good everyday watch. I'm thinking something like a Seiko 5 might be a good choice. Any thoughts or recommendations on other watches to consider?

Seiko 5 would be an awesome choice. G-Shocks are truly bullet proof too. Depends on the look he wants, but for price and quality you couldn't go wrong with either.

Out of curiosity, how do you switch between cars? Can you do that on the watch, or do you have to select it within the connected app?
