This was a weird month, I pre-order a few different microbrand watches (all $600 or less) over the last 8 months from different companies, and for some reason, they ALL arrived the SAME WEEK ?

All three watches are very nice for their respective price points, however getting them all at once helped me realized I've purchased too much stuff this year, so I see myself keeping only 1 or 2 of these new pieces (especially since I ordered something very special and quite expensive that's due to arrive in Nov). I'll keep the group posted on what I decide to keep and what I let go.

Less than one month later, another NWA ?

This time it's the newest model from Korean microbrand Pitzmann, creatively titled Pitzmann III ???

It's my first automatic chronograph (I own a manual wind, and two quartz) and uses the relatively new Seiko 8R48 automatic movement that is currently only found in their new automatic SRQ-04X series chronos and a few other micro brands. It's one of the lowest priced vertical clutch, column wheel Chrono movement on the market currently.
Also priced at $1300, its at least half the price of the Seiko automatic Speedtimer version and with slightly smaller dimensions for better wear ability:

40mm case/41mm ceramic bezel, 13mm thickness and 47mm lug to lug, solid case back, 50m WR, 45h PR.
What do you think of the Pitzmann after owning it for a while @Kayone73?

I saw your post while looking for smth and am excited to jump into this watch chat. Watches are such an excellent blend of art and engineering, right? I love how they can say so much about a person. I’ve been getting into the whole super clone rolex scene lately. It’s fascinating how well they can replicate the look and feel of the originals. Some of them are just spot-on! It makes me think about how vital craftsmanship is in this hobby.
But I also feel there’s something special about owning the real deal. It’s like wearing a piece of history on your wrist. Do you lean towards collecting clones or prefer saving up for the real thing? I think it’s all about what makes you happy.
My wife's grandmother died recently. She was 98 and lived a good, long, happy life. Going through her apartment we found a Rolex Explorer II in a drawer. Granddad, who died 10 years prior, was notoriously cheap, and had occasional business in China. So we knew there was a good chance the watch was fake. It felt too light, even for a 90s vintage, and the green sticker on the back looked... off. Took it to a jeweler and confirmed our suspicion - fake. I promptly got rid of it.

I love watches, and don't like the idea of disrespecting the craftsmen and the companies that create them by wearing a Chinese knock-off. IMO, if you want a less expensive watch, there are many brands that offer watches with Miyota or other less expensive movements for reasonable prices. Buy one of those and enjoy it for what it is. Different people have different opinions on the matter, surely, but it's a line in the sand that I draw for myself.

Agree 100%.

I wouldn't wear fake anything, even if I got it for free.

Imo fake gear is to make other people think you have got the genuine article, when you haven't.
Why bother so much about what other people think?

Louis Vuitton is the worse imo....its so degraded that even the real stuff looks fake nowadays.

Not being able to walk in and buy an Explorer at an AD, nor get a call back after being on lists for years, led a friend of mine into the world of replica watches.
Some of these are so well finished, even the movement is replicated to a high standard.
The regulated balance wheel gives it away, but that can be swapped out for factory free sprung.
Now he only buys watches that can't be replicated, but I hear Rolex is building another factory to meet demand.

Got a new FKM rubber strap by Strap Habit for my Knot Watches diver, the original strap was a bit stiff and uncomfortable. The new one is a big improvement for wear comfort:

NWA and final (planned) watch purchase for the year:

Grand Seiko SLGW005 '45GS recreation'

Porsche Taycan Watch collectors - let's talk watches here! FB_IMG_1731361937482

This is a limited edition of 1200 pieces, using GS' new 9SA4 manual wind hi Beat movement first debuted in the SLGW001. While that is a handsome manual wind dress watch piece, I never really warmed up to the Evolution 9 design language. However as soon as this SLGW005 (and solid gold SLGW003) were revealed to be a modern revival of the classic vintage 45GS case reference up sized from the original 36mm case diameter to a more modern 38.8mm (to make room for the larger (9SA4 movement) I immediately fell in love.

The dial is a near perfect recreation of the classic 45GS watch and without anything next to it for size reference, this can be easily mistaken for the original vintage reference which for me is part of the appeal. Only those really in the know will appreciate or even recognize what this is, and to everyone else, it looks like a understated if boring dress watch worn by some Japanese businessman from the 1980s, and most would have no idea its a nearly $10K piece with a huge SEIKO logo displayed prominently up top. This is the ultimate in retro cool elegance and a great way for me to cap my watch collecting in 2024 ??

Wasn’t planning on getting a watch on this vacation, but my wife really liked it. Glashutte Original isn’t quite a mainstream brand, but their watches, IMO, are a great value for the money. Great finishing. In house movements. Some high complications. (Chef’s kiss emoji)

I really like that.
Great colour and interesting shape. Love chronos where the sub dials are discreet, so they don't distract from hours/minutes.
Which model is it?

Update.
Found the model.
Question on the hour timer.
Can you set it in conjunction with the 30s timer to show elapsed time - to use say parking meter / cooking?

The chronograph seconds counter is the centrally-mounted seconds hand. The sub-dial at 3 o'clock is a 30 minute counter, and the counter is at 12 o'clock below the logo is chronograph hours. The chrono indicators all time a single event, and can be used to time events up to 12 hours long - parking, smoking a brisket (I'm in Texas), or how long a soccer match actually takes (because it's NOT the advertised 90 minutes! ?). It's also a flyback chronograph using the reset pusher at 4 o'clock.
