I need some advice on changing the tires and wheels on my 2020 4S from the 21" Mission Es to a smaller wheel and larger sidewall tire.

Some background info. I purchase a 2020 Taycan 4S dealer demo car 4 months ago. It had most of the options I wanted and they told me it would take over a year to get a new car if and ordered one. I have had two flats from hitting pot holes and cracking the tire side wall (the wheels were fine). The thing is I wasn't off roading, or the like. One flat came from a pot hole in an on-ramp to HWY 101 in CA, and the other on the main street where the Porsche Dealership is located, just a couple of blocks down the street! The dealer rep told me this happens often. Since I am not tracking the car it seems unnecessary to have such low profile tires, except for appearance. I am willing to forgo the good look so that I don't have to drive like I am avoiding land mines. Not fun. I really like the car but this problem is very inhibiting.

I have tried to discuss this with the dealership, but they are very reluctant to suggest anything. At first they told it was not possible, and later when I pointed out a Taycan on their sales floor with 19" wheels they then told me smaller wheels would not fit around the brakes, but they seemed uncertain. Strange.

I have PCSB brakes on the car. I think this means I can only go down to 20" wheels. I this correct? I would prefer to go to 19" and get a larger side wall. Any recommendations would be very welcome. Thanks!

In my experience, the single most important factor to prevent flats and damage to rims due to potholes and poor road conditions is to religiously maintain the maximum recommended tire pressure in your tires. I have never had any problems with 21 or 22 inch rims due to potholes when I have had the highest recommended pressures. The problems come when you have lower tire pressures, which sounds a bit counterintuitive I know.

Dont change the wheel or tyre stick with it. Come to the uk we have pot holes for fun here try driving over here for a few weeks and you will learn very quick on a avoidance then you will be ok when back in the USA Even Biden falls into pot holes . Seriously don’t change you will open a can of worms

I am constantly going back and forth on whether I should keep my 19 inch wheels or go up to 20 and get after market ones. To those of you with 20s, do you feel they are just as prone to curbing and flats as the 21s? I'm a very low maintenance kind of guy and don't want to deal with any headaches.

To me, 20"s are a fine compromise.

I have used 19"s for both summer and winter, and the same with 20"s. The 19"s make the car feel a bit more nimble while the bigger rims make the car feel a bit more planted. To me, the larger rims do look quite a bit better. On the other hand, there is a slight penalty when it comes to efficiency. No problem if you drive in areas with good charging opportunities, though.

Since my household consists of a wife, and two daughters who are 18 and 20 years old - and they all seem to be in a hurry when driving our cars, the 21"s are totally out of the picture.

I opted for 20's on mine (both for winter and all-season tires), since long time ago when I moved to WA I had low profile tires on a 911, and while I loved them in California, they were very uncomfortable and prone to damage in Washington state. Roads here are horrible. My daughter managed to damage her stock steel Corolla tires on a pothole recently - those have more sidewall than my 20's on the Taycan. I thought of picking up a set of 21" just for track days, but a) not willing to to pay anywhere near the money Porsche wants for them just to use them on track days, and b) would have to rearrange the garage to store them (since the Taycan already has winter and all-season tires).
