What car are you planning to replace it with?No this was a once in a lifetime thing for me. Box ticked.
My crappy Clio courtesy car is over £100 per day so there’s that to add I guess
I'm not sure how it works in the UK, but in the US, the adjuster from the insurance company will do their own calculations. They would not just give a blank check to the repairers. This is a prime example of everything that is wrong with insurance.
Lets face it someone will buy that car and fix it for less than £10k. The 'approved repairers' just make up figures. Absolute crooks.
And over £100 a day for a clio?? WTAF? £36,500 a year from that? I can rent a Clio from Europcar for £25 a day!!!!
The government needs to step in and stop this! Is ridiculous!
I agree insurance is a rip off, and something should be done to curb the excesses (random quotes being my most favourite). This is a prime example of everything that is wrong with insurance.

Perhaps you Meta, Google, or other companies collecting your data for advertising purchases have correctly concluded that you need a rental car, which means you will only be offered higher prices (or to be more precise, less or no discounts, because hiking prices can result in negative publicity). This is how the those companies became largest companies in the world, customer data is worth more than gold. Next time you're thinking "I don't want to pay gmail every month to host my email, I'll take a free account and let them scan my emails for advertising purposes", consider that everything you buy sends an order confirmation to your email, all your communications, etc - massive trove of information that can be used to extract extra money from you. Google can combine that with your search history too, if you use Google. Same for WhatsApp, you talk with your friends about having a wedding to go to, then you realize that plane tickets have somehow gone up for just that time window. It is impossible to escape all this data collection, but people can limit it by not offering their data for free - at least in EU you guys have stronger privacy protection laws which give you more options to pay for services with money instead of your data. But I went to hire a car for a couple of days recently (dealer no longer does loan cars for service work!) and couldn't find anything for less than £95 per day...last time I needed one, it was £25 as you note.
It’s because the math isn’t what we normally think.25k is a total loss? How? I'm sorry for you OP. Glad you are ok and well. Are you getting a new one?
So did you end up with the original invoice price ? Insurenace + gapMarket value / insurance offer was £35571. I was instructed to accept it by my GAP insurance company.
I’ve ordered a BMW i4, it’ll do for work![]()
