Taycan dimensions are:

Length: 4.96m
Width: 1.97m

To avoid risk of sidewalling the car, what would the more experienced garage/car owners of this group recommend as a minimum sized garage + including a wall charging point?

I've never had to park a car in a tight walled space before, so I'm struggling to visualise if 25cm either side of the car (so a garage width of c 2.5m) would be big enough + provide enough margin of error in case the car isn't lined up as you drive it into the garage.

Cheers!

My current Cayenne physically won't pass through my garage door (single door to a double garage) unless I fold the mirrors. Reversing in, the passenger side is around 25cm from the wall. The driver side opens on to the rest of the double garage.
I assume you'll need a wall gap several times greater than 25cm to get out of the car.
EDIT- and here's the demonstrator I checked fit ok before I ordered. The yellow tape on the floor helps a lot with alignment, especially with the rear camera trajectory lines. Touch wood I've had no incidents in 3 years actually using a garage to park a car (for the first time in my life).

Seems like a case for remote park if only 25cm :)

I'd plan for 50-100cm on each side of the car where you want to be able to walk depending on your size and dealing with a tight squeeze every now and then if you're a bit off the mark on your parking.

Unless you are stick-figure thin and a professional contortionist that's simply too narrow IMHO.

I have around 43cm on the “tight” side of my garage for my Macan. It’s the passenger side, so I don’t use it much. It’s a pain but it’s manageable. I would not try any less and use the doors.

Our Taycan parks in the middle of a two car spot, so it’s almost 2m on each side for clearance.

25cm will be tight. Is that the width throughout the entire length of your parking spot or just the narrowest point? I park in a garage in the city with concrete columns on either side leaving me about 15cm on both sides with the mirrors extended. It's tight, but I haven't *yet* had an issue. I'm way too afraid to try RemotePark given those margins.

If it's 25cm the entire length, you'll never be able to get out... the Taycan already isn't the easiest car to climb out out, let alone with 25cm to squeeze out sideways!

I did some research when sizing up my own. The issue I had was the garage door frame(s) which 'stole' around 5" making the manoeuvre possible but never unaided and never in the dark. Mirrors must be folded.

I replaced the doors (I know!) will sectional and recovered the lost space. I can now confidently drive in using the forward view on the 360 pano door cameras (when folded) in daylight and night time unaided - perfect.

Parking is tight but not impossible and most wouldn't attempt it.

I placed my PMCC and dock on the back wall (centre) and no issue to charge either within the garage or outside (7.5m EVSE to car cable).

Garage door measurements prior to replacing - car will fit but need to be guided in at least until the front of the car is in and door mirrors can be unfolded to see the rear of the car and crucially the gap either side (reversing out is a doddle):

Sounds like you have sufficient room if your measurements are from the inside to inside edge of the door frame (if one exists) and not to the bricks. If you have the 360 cameras then no sweat I'd say.

Thanks for your detailed response! Very useful with your garage dimensions shown as well.

Do you remote park your car or can you squeeze out of it once parked in your garage?

To complicate things, I am currently in the process of house hunting. My expansive search on the property sites hasn't found much in the way of the ideal property, and while you replaced your garage doors (reasonable!); I am putting aside £10-20k for a large or even double garage and that is primarily because of the Taycan (though it would increase value of property and be rolled into other renovation work, plus exist for future cars I own).

Of property I've found with a garage, almost none of them are big enough and I'm loathe to keeping a car like this on a drive, open to the elements all the time. Also better for security to keep it locked away.

I'm thinking anything less than 2.5 x 5.5m garage would be about minimum to comfortably park the car and squeeze myself out of the car (I'm quite slim ?).

I don't have remote park nor would I trust it - it is sure to be problematic, unreliable and will only work on a large safety tolerance (I also think it is iOS only if I read the specs correctly - no mention of Android).

If you have 2.5m width then you can fit the car in (with someone guiding) - I did it with much less (cold sweat included) but if you can't get out of the car when in then that's an issue (clearly).

I have double garages and ideally wanted to replace both doors with a single door. The costs were sky high (roof supports, RSJ, planning permission and so on) and so new doors to give those extra inches were a great compromise.

I have been researching this to death! Thank God for your post, it gives me hope :) Do you think I’d be able to park into a 218cm wide garage? After I am completely in, it will be possible to exit. I was thinking to mount some cameras on the ceiling of the garage to the sides, so I can better observe how close I am from the wall.

P.S. I don’t have my car yet and this is my biggest fear.
