I've just been out to take some measurements:I have been researching this to death! Thank God for your post, it gives me hopeDo you think I’d be able to park into a 218cm wide garage? After I am completely in, it will be possible to exit. I was thinking to mount some cameras on the ceiling of the garage to the sides, so I can better observe how close I am from the wall.
P.S. I don’t have my car yet and this is my biggest fear.
The narrowest gap across my door frame is 217cm (which is why I can't get in without folding the mirrors on my otherwise 219cm wide Cayenne).
The distance between the outside edges of my yellow floor tape is 210cm (sometimes- if I'm impatient or want to leave more room on one side of the car- I end up with the rear wheels a few cm beyond the yellow tape).
If your 218cm limitation is only at the door then you should be OK (my Cayenne is 1cm wider than the Taycan when they both have their mirrors folded), as long as you have enough room inside to open the Taycan door wide enough to get in and out (I'm assuming at least 50cm but it could need more, depending on the thickness of the door- at least the frameless window helps a bit when space is tight).
I'd originally considered all kinds of aids to help me get in, but I found that as long as I got lined up well before entry, I didn't even bother unfolding the mirrors once they are past the door frame...I just use the rear view camera (you might spot in the photo a vertical strip of wood that marks the centreline for the camera, but I rarely bother checking that) and if I feel fussy about being completely straight I open the driver door to check where the rear wheels are in relation to the yellow tape.
