I have been researching this to death! Thank God for your post, it gives me hope :) Do you think I’d be able to park into a 218cm wide garage? After I am completely in, it will be possible to exit. I was thinking to mount some cameras on the ceiling of the garage to the sides, so I can better observe how close I am from the wall.

P.S. I don’t have my car yet and this is my biggest fear.
I've just been out to take some measurements:
The narrowest gap across my door frame is 217cm (which is why I can't get in without folding the mirrors on my otherwise 219cm wide Cayenne).
The distance between the outside edges of my yellow floor tape is 210cm (sometimes- if I'm impatient or want to leave more room on one side of the car- I end up with the rear wheels a few cm beyond the yellow tape).
If your 218cm limitation is only at the door then you should be OK (my Cayenne is 1cm wider than the Taycan when they both have their mirrors folded), as long as you have enough room inside to open the Taycan door wide enough to get in and out (I'm assuming at least 50cm but it could need more, depending on the thickness of the door- at least the frameless window helps a bit when space is tight).
I'd originally considered all kinds of aids to help me get in, but I found that as long as I got lined up well before entry, I didn't even bother unfolding the mirrors once they are past the door frame...I just use the rear view camera (you might spot in the photo a vertical strip of wood that marks the centreline for the camera, but I rarely bother checking that) and if I feel fussy about being completely straight I open the driver door to check where the rear wheels are in relation to the yellow tape.

Thanks for doing that. I appreciate it. It’s not quite just the entrance. It’s a bit of the entrance (let’s say around 50cm), then it’s bigger on the inside but only on the passenger side going in backwards. On the driver side I would have to stay close to the wall for the entire length of the entry and exit. I would have to get out through the passenger side but I am ok with that.

You're welcome. It's a pity that space isn't on the other side- I've not tried going forwards into my garage but I'm guessing it's harder not having the rear camera (I can't actually remember what surround view options there are forwards for the Cayenne, never mind the Taycan). Have you tried getting across the Taycan front seats- I imagine the low roof makes it tricky to avoid damage to car/clothes/yourself ?

I guess I’ll figure it out once I get the car. I figured it should be fine if I take off my shoes. ☺

With my garage ceiling camera idea, it may be ok going in with the front too

see if the dealership has a loaner that you can take home and see if it will fit before buying

No idea if this is of any help.....?

We replaced our standard (new build) up and over garage door and replaced it with an electric roller shutter door.

Your gain some extra width as the side frames are removed, but lose some length as it fits further inside.

Ultimately we now use it as a gym anyway so both cars live on the drive now.

I already have one of those. I could however knock of some of the surface layers of the wall down to the concrete to gain about 3cm on each side. That’ll help. Thanks for all the tips.

Ingress and egress to the Taycan is quite awkward given the seating position and door opening. Low ride height doesn't help either.

Take the guess work away and borrow the demonstrator and try it out for size in your garage. Saloon or CT will do (same size).

My current Cayenne physically won't pass through my garage door (single door to a double garage) unless I fold the mirrors. Reversing in, the passenger side is around 25cm from the wall. The driver side opens on to the rest of the double garage.
I assume you'll need a wall gap several times greater than 25cm to get out of the car.
EDIT- and here's the demonstrator I checked fit ok before I ordered. The yellow tape on the floor helps a lot with alignment, especially with the rear camera trajectory lines. Touch wood I've had no incidents in 3 years actually using a garage to park a car (for the first time in my life).

How long does it take you to go in and out of the garage?

Less than 10 seconds to get out, as the car is already line up with the door, so I just go forwards with minor steering adjustment if I started parked at a slight angle.
To get in, I'd guess 30 seconds plus or minus 15. The more effort I spend getting lined up outside, the more likely I can reverse straight in without having to stop part way and come out a bit to correct. Rain on windows / mirrors / cameras requires more care.
So as not to rely on the rear sensors, I have a plastic single-wheel parking stop so I can feel when I'm far enough in to be able to close the garage door without it touching the car. This will be essential when I get the Taycan as its extra 6cm length will only leave me around 10cm in front and behind.
I'll try and remember to time it next time...not as much fun as 0-100 ?

(EDIT- link to the parking stop, £25, uses the weight of the vehicle to stop it moving out of place- https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0136ADOJY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

Random post.....

When I was using our garage for previous cars we had a floor covering of those cheap, spongy interlocking tiles, which worked fine.

The garage fitting width ways was really tight for my M2.

I considered using LED strip lights placed in a channel cut into the floor tiles, or just running them down both edges (like runway lights) and possibly even up the back wall.

The lights come in a roll which can be cut to length and cost buttons.

I think the idea would have worked well.

Its now a gym though, so the flooring stayed and the strip lights went round the ceiling.

Update now I've been living with my CT for a few days:
Took a couple of days to adjust from Cayenne to Taycan with confidence (I think mainly due to getting used to behaviour of RAS);
I only use the rear camera, fold the mirrors as I approach the threshold and keep them folded until driving out again. (I worry if I unfolded them inside that I might forget to fold them before driving out, so instead of switching to side view to check alignment once inside the garage, I open the driver's door to check against the yellow tape.)
My main reference point is the yellow strips I've taped to the floor. The vertical strip of wood marking the centre-line on the rear wall is also helpful and has I think already saved an accidentally opened tailgate from scraping the wall (haven't checked to see whether it stops opening when it senses obstructions).

It won't stop until contact is made but you can reprogram the opening height to avoid this.
