My Dealer (Rusnak) is legit, been in business for ~40 years. I do follow the logic that if I option a car, particularly a RWD beyond what they could sell for with a reasonable return than a larger deposit would be warranted so I don’t bail. That said, I have suspected they are just trying to keep cash flow while deliveries get delayed. I am likely going to push back at freeze on additional deposit if production has stopped or I get pushed out to a MY 2023 car as I’m sure that will come with a considerable bump in price.
I would bail. If it hasn't hit lock-in date, there should be no reason why they can't refund your deposit. I live around the Los Angeles area, too, and I ended up ordering from a dealer in another state and did delivery to the Porsche Experience Center in LA. Call around, for sure, another dealer will have an allocation and willing to give you a better deal.

Anyone receive any solid updates from PCNA about a definite stop production?

I totally understand delays considering covid, chip shortages, supply chain bottlenecks, a ship catching fire and sinking with 1100 Porsches and now a full blown war. Talk about a crazy world we live in; one thing after the next.

My order was created 10/2021 and was slated to enter production 3/11 and to be completed 3/18. According to my SA, they haven’t received any information about a stop in production. So much conflicting news on this forum. Hopefully all of us who have been patiently waiting will receive some solid communication this week.

Yeah, I'm similarly confused, but I also understand how difficult it is to manage communication across such a wide market. I suspect that email really only applied to a specific region, and it doesn't make sense to tell them that every other region isn't impacted by it, and similarly doesn't make sense to tell people that aren't impacted about it.

I'm just going to cross my fingers and hope for the best. Also, y'all are fine to agree that if only one Taycan gets made, it'll be mine right (GTS ST with PTS Acid Green)? I promise to take plenty of pics!

Question since we are talking builds and freeze dates. I have a 4s that has been allocated but freeze date is still a month away. Would I be able to move to GTS? Or would I lose my place in line? Anyone know?
If you do, please let me know where you are located so you can pass that 4S allocation to me.

Kidding of course.

But also not really.

I am holding on to it. Not going to risk losing it. Thanks though ?

My original lock-in date was 3.1.22 and dealer eta 5.6.22. Is now showing as 5.13.22 and 7.29.22, respectively.

What a disaster, Covid, chip shortages and now this.......
I know, right? Those Ukrainians are being bombed to death and while huddling in the cold dark bomb shelters all they can think about is "how are we going to get the Americans their Porsches??"

I'd like to be clear on what i said incase taken out of context. I work in Healthcare & patients have been directly impacted by Covid (increased waiting lists, increased inequalities etc). The chip shortage has meant that new medical devices such as CT & MRI scanners are being severely delayed. Now the atrocities in Ukraine.

I placed my order last month with a $5K non-refundable deposit and a $10K MSRP markup cuz I’m lucky enough to live in SoCalifornia ?. I’ve optioned my RWD to the point where my SA wanted another $15K deposit and I’m still a month from freeze after its moved out twice to 4/3 now. I told him not a chance for more $$ down before a freeze but wondering if that is even wise. For a financed car (vs leased) you don’t know final price until delivery with potential cost of money details or factory unavailability of parts. But, I have no intention of handing my dealer another 10% above the inflated markup I’ve already agreed and come to terms with.

Am I off base here or is that the “tax” to be a Pcar owner?

I never signed anything saying the deposit was non-refundable that I recall but if I did and wanted to bailout it seems this could be a Force Majeure situation?
When I was shopping last summer, the dealer 15 min away from me wanted a $5k non-refundable deposit. There was no way I was agreeing to that. I bought from the dealer 40 minutes away with a refundable deposit of $2,500 in the event I changed my mind (he said the only time they do non-refundable is if you pick some strange colors exterior/interior and options that would make it harder for them to sell on the lot).

Swung by the dealer who lost the deal after I had received my car and parked in front to go get a gift for my brother and the salesman recognized me and said "nicely spec'd car." And I am thinking, you lost that sale because of your non-refundable deposit.
