Hi all. Recently changed to summer wheels & tires. After a few days of driving the left front wheel suddenly started making a low ticking sound corresponding with speed & wheel revs. The higher the speed the higher the ticking frequency. Funny thing is - sometimes it goes away for a while and then returns. Checked for gravel & nails - nothing. Initially thought it was the brake pads that gently touched the disc, and sometimes a hard brake will make the sound go away for a short while, but it always returns.

Did not have this problem with the winter wheels & tires, only now with original 20” Porsche rims. Drove these same wheels last season without this issue.

I do not think it is a wheel bearing, - I know that sound from previous BMWs, nor does it resemble the “fan clogged with gravel” issue described by others - since it definitely follows the revs of the wheel. The sound will sometimes increase in volume when turning - both left & right, but not always. Sometimes it actually will go away when putting some light torque left or right on the steering wheel.

This did of course start yesterday when going up to my mountain cabin (was still on good tarmac when it started - not gravel), so I do not have a jack or tools to take the wheel off and check the disc & caliper. Hopefully I‘ll make it back home tomorrow without it becoming a serious issue….

Has anyone else experienced this issue?
(Car is a 4S+ 2020 model with about 30000 km on the clock.)

Did this issue ever get resolved? My car is at the dealer for the same ticking noise you described. For me, it only happens when I'm turning right. So, I'm getting the noise from the front driver side area.

Have you checked if the balancing weights are not touching the brake caliper? I never had that issue my taycan but I had very little clearance on my Cayenne winter wheels which caused some rubbing when the weights were glued centrally.
