If you have a choice, the new model year is clearly more valuable but there are other factors like purchase price which is increasing each MY, market adjustments based on low supply and, in my case, ensuring we nabbed the $7500 federal tax credit before the end of 2021 (it was on the verge of being eliminated with the BBB bill but didn’t happen….yet).
If the configurator is accurate, then they eliminated the Vesuvius wheels that I have in my build. If that happens, I would change the paint and the interior color…and I am past my freeze date. The complications/delays from all that would be ugly. That’s why I want a MY22. Agree that a MY23 could beneficial. In all cases, I do want the tax credit for this year too…

Admittedly, I find this annoying how dealers “check you out” based on the vehicle you drive in on before you walk through the door. Most dealers are guilty of it and if they don’t feel you are worthy, they don’t give you the time of day. There are clearly the trappings of privilege that many people look for besides the car, such as the Rolex, expensive clothing, etc. I abhor this subliminal classism which feel to me like microaggressions.

I’m probably overly sensitive to it as I used to look fairly young (once) and recall walking in to check out a condo/flat that I was interested in purchasing. The head sales person told me that I likely “couldn’t afford it”. I later requested another sales associate before purchasing the property.
Before I bought my first Porsche in 1998 I literally bought new clothes before going into the dealership for fear of being judged. I was a young man then.

Now I don't care, if someone blows me off (and it has happened) I email the dealership and do business with another one.

I like to build long term relationships with my Porsche sales people which makes everything easier. Sadly my favorite sales lady went upstream to Ferrari which is out of my budget, so I started over with a new sales rep.

Was told by SA they can get a build complete in 4-5 months for the 4s. Mentioned they just back into production. Seem far stretch

This may vary by location. In the northeast, many of the people with real money couldnt care less as to how they look….some dont care about what they drive. It’s almost like when you look around in the dealership, the customers last look the most scruffy are the most affluent. There comes a point where your net worth causes you to not care what other people think I guess…

? If someone blows me off at a Porsche Dealership that guarantees I will be a customer for life.
My dealership always goes the extra mile for me but I never had that treat!

Worst case scenario......forget the Porsche and use public transport.

Seems to be a much better service on the trains nowadays.....

Lol. I was told the same by some dealers about a CTT 10 months ago. Still no allocation. I prefer working with dealers who just play it straight. I'd rather hear the truth "we don't have any allocations, no clue if and when we're getting any, but you can put you on a list , there are X people ahead of you", than the perpetual pacifying the customer "we're expecting an allocation for you in 2-4 months".

If your SA thinks they could get a car in your hands in 4-5 months, they should have an allocation with a commission number, estimated freeze, production, and delivery dates. Do they?

Sales people will always judge in order to optimize their time. A Ferrari sales person who gives test drives to every person who walks in will not make much in commission (but they will sure be popular). Oh, they also judge you for how much extra they can take you for too in terms of additional fees, jacked up money factors, additional upsells, etc. Just a fact of life when dealing with car sales. As you said, building relationships really helps save time on so many levels, but you have to start over when switching brands, moving, or the sales person moves on or up the corporate ladder.

Thank you for the tips I’ll make sure to ask. The process is all new to me lol

this thread seems quite anecdotal, various countries, variable tycan models...

FWIW, my USA ordered base rwd 2022 taycan (deposit paid last month)
was locked 27 April '22, Porsche "track your dream" indicates "scheduled for production"

Oh no, I thought you had a 4/29 lock date like I did. What happened? Maybe I need to reach out to my SA to see what the latest status is.

I am susprised at that.

I thought the Felicity Ace customers were getting fast tracked!?

Hope it gets sorted soon.

You could give the old Felicity Ace thread a bump and see where everyone else is up to.?
*update: I have done it.

My base rwd taycan (deposit paid April 21) actually locked April 22!
@Napleton (Westmont, IL US)
Porsche "track your dream" still shows in stage 1/4 (order entry)
delivery date July 27 hasn't changed
Weird!!
My RWD was ordered Sept 6th. Two weeks ago I got bumped from phase 2 to 3 on TYD APP.
My dealer reckons another 2 months from that point (so more likely 3 months min).
But in other forums I’m reading about dealers contacting customers saying Taycan production shutting down for 3-4 weeks??
It’s all bloody guesswork if you ask me
