The wheels started to fall off my wagon, but they did a good job patching me up again. My immediate concern is "only" the potential for ongoing monitoring resulting in being told I'm not allowed to drive any more. But even then, I consider myself lucky to still be around to be able to worry about that  ?

Potential bad news I'm afraid.

When collecting my T4SST yesterday the salesman told me that the factory which makes the 12v batteries for Porsche (affecting all models) has suffered a major fire and production has been stopped ufn / alternative supplies are sourced.

They're defo halting production - now spoken to dealer. No 12v batteries. Expected one month delay for all unbuilt cars and cars going through production. Many cars will be bumped to 23 year.

dismal really.

My car was scheduled to be built next month so of course disappointed to hear about this news.

I've just had an email exchange with Porsche Nottingham about my car which is supposed to be delivered to the dealership on the 22/7. He has confirmed there are delays but not sure to what extent. Also confirmed my car going into production on the 1/7. I've asked if my car will be a MY22 or MY23. It's not Porsche Nottinghams fault but I'm getting really bored now. Bloody ordered the thing beginning of last June. Meh.

We've seen other claims of a shutdown earlier this the year, I'm not sure any came from the source i.e. the factory itself, which seemed able to maintain a reduced throughput throughout.
I'd (perhaps naively) hope that production could continue if they can remove the batteries from cars as they are parked up after being built, then re-use them for those that are going in to production. I assume that the 12v battery is readily accessible for replacement.
The limitation would then be parking space, though the annual summer shutdown might alleviate that issue.

Welcome to the "bored waiting group"! Ordered mine April 2021...scheduled to go into production today. Over the last year on many occasions have tired of the whole waiting experience...but I guess good things come to those who wait

Wow I that's bad! Are you leasing? I am. Seems those of us leasing wait the longest. Yeah I'm trying to be positive.

No buying out right but in fairness initially I waited for the GTS announcement and then decided to go for the 4S

One would think the lack of 12 volt batteries wouldn’t halt production (as they can be installed afterwards), just perhaps delay deliveries until the batteries can be sourced again… Right? ?

12v batteries disrupting production for a month feels unreal. They can ship without and I’ll grab one from Halfords ??‍♂

Not as if margins were tight on Porsche vehicles, preventing them from sourcing lower “stop gap” volumes of parts to keep deliveries flowing.

What seems to emerge from this whole supply chain mess is that some OEMs are simply doing a better job / are more resilient than others… EV6, Model 3/Y, Ioniq 5, Polestar, EQs, Etron all seem to be doing well lead time-wise in the EV world
