Tesla charge for non Tesla.

Mighty kind of you to offer advice and encouragement on using Tesla chargers seeing as you are a Tesla owner yourself. ? Not all Tesla drivers are enthusiastic about Tesla opening up the chargers to non-Tesla vehicles...

I guess Tesla is going to make quite a bit of money from the chargers that way, if it takes off properly. So Tesla owners might benefit by lower price increases than orher networks perhaps.

There was an artivle in one of the EV magazines not too long ago about the cost for a Tesla charger. It was in connection with Grant applications I think. In the article it was highlighted that the cost for a Tesla Supercharger was one fifth (20%) of equivalent HPC. That would mean that Tesla can install 20 SuC when Ionity can afford only 4!!!

That would certainly increase the complexity and costs. The same goes for the Card reader on the Ionity stations as well as the Display. On the other hand that also could impact each chargers reliability. More things to go wrong and in particular the cooling liquid, pump and heat pump.

This YouTube video points out that Tesla has plans for healthy restaurants at Supercharger locations, and speculates that this may be a big part of their business strategy for opening up the charging network to non-Teslas:

You need to look at the number of the charger and select it on the app. The numbering is mostly 1A-1B so they share the amount.

Only V2 Superchargers (those with separate CCS and Tesla Type 2 cables on the tombstone) split the 150 kW output between stalls.

V3 supercharger (those that only have a CCS cable attached to the tombstone) have a dedicated 250 kW supply.

Not in UK / Conti-Europe based on where the SuC are often located - in the parking lots of out of town hotels.

I got a lot of interest from Tesla drivers but I was pleased how easy to use through the Tesla app, didn’t hit 250kwh but a steady 110 soon got me up to 60% charge.

Did you move to the space on the right to hook up, or are you LHD?

If Tesla drivers are upset by non-Tesla cars charging on the Tesla SuC nework they have to remember some of their Tesla brothers have been using CCS chargers for some time now. In addition, Tesla seems poised to offer a CCS to Tesla adapter.

Yeah they've been available in the UK for a couple of years now - ever since we got model 3's basically and v3 SuC were being built.
