I was just wondering if this is normal… no info about production date. No freeze date…

ordered an RWD end of January 2022.

I don’t understand. It’s not like millions of people are ordering Taycans all of a sudden. For BMW I can understand you would have to wait a year, but for a Porsche?

come on.

See segment 14:30-15:00. A bit hilarious and unfortunate at the same time.

Let’s remember so much went on after the end of January 2022.
The Ukraine war which affected supply parts, as well as a recent 12v battery fire.
That was after the well known chip shortages and unprecedented demand which definitely they were not prepared for.
However the communication from head office should have been bettter so the dealers could relay this info back to the customers.

Same here, ordered 29/01/2022. I was given a production date at the end of november, normally delivery at the end of december. No freeze date up till now.

Did you ever confirm a build slot allocation complete with reference no?

So you’re only “worthy” of a Porsche if you are not asking for good and timely communication but are willing to pay 130K?

I said what I said because of this line by the OP

"I don’t understand. It’s not like millions of people are ordering Taycans all of a sudden. For BMW I can understand you would have to wait a year, but for a Porsche?"

If he really thinks BMW is superior to Porsche than he does not deserve one

A bit unusual to not have a freeze date by now but not unheard of. Don’t understand your BMW/Porsche compare. My advice to everyone placing an order is that you should be prepared for delivery to take 2X whatever you are quoted.

I don’t think BMW is superior at all. Because so many companies buy these as a salary cars for their employees and because it’s less exclusive, I totally understand that people have to wait longer (because the general demand is bigger).

I would expect the waiting time for a Porsche to be smaller because not so many people can buy one.

It’s not a question who’s “worthy”…it’s a question of attitude.
I mean, you won’t solve your problem here since no one has access to Porsche factory schedule.
so, you should work with your dealer, since he can answer your question when your car will come on a production line.
but i do understand your frustration….almost all of us went through similar situations of delays, postponed production day 1, weeks/months needed for some spare parts, etc…. Remember the sinked ship, with thousand(s) of Porsches?

bottom-line: that’s life. Not 1st world problem when one doesn‘t get what wanted asap…

I wish you fast delivery, anyway.

This is entirely normal for 2022 given events in Europe and the ongoing semiconductor shortages impacting many suppliers. 12v battery shortage, Felicity Ace incident and so on

There are pages of comments on this forum on the same topic perhaps you've missed them.

I ordered my GTS ST September 2021 for November 2022 delivery and no allocation yet. So sometime 2023...maybe.

I ordered mine in July 2021 it is built now and en route from factory to dealer but may be further delayed by the much discussed 12V battery production stopping due to a fire.

A quick look on the internet shows BMW 2 521 525 cars compared to Porsche 300 081 in 2021 and the Taycan is very popular so it doesn't take a genius to work that one out.

There is also an implication of supply being limited deliberately to keep used prices up which is good for long term ownership.

This technique is used by Rolex to keep the price of their watches high in a very different market so is only of benefit to collectors, so I'd never buy one of them.

Your dealership “should” be able to give you the month of the production to you provided that they have assigned you the available allocation, the freeze date is about 1-2 months before the production date. If you do not have the commission number assigned then they just put you on their internal “waitlist”. Ask your sales person.

I ordered the RWD early April for mid June available allocation slot at MSRP, config frozen end of April, car is built early July and now it’s stuck at the holding facility waiting for the 12V battery. Estimated delivery is now December.

Once your order is commissioned in the Porsche system, your dealer can get tracking snapshot like this for you.
