Hi everyone!

Porsche Taycan Rate my 4s - my first sports / electric car iris

Since a week I'm proud - soon to be - owner of a 4s Sport Turismo (may 2023). It's my first sports car and also my first electric car. Picking options is giving me more stress than expected and making me more nervous than necessary. I really could use your advice and opinions!

I'm ordering from the Netherlands (North / West Europe), so each option is separate selectable as we don't have packages like the Premium package available in North America.

Options that I selected:
- full leather black
- comfort seats 14 way (heated)
- 4+1 seatings (I have 2 kids, and probably have to taxi for friends in the near future)
- electric mirrors
- sport chrono
- RAS
- 21 inch RS spyder rims
- Self-dimming interior and exterior mirrors
- Panoramic roof (Do I need this, I like the looks of the standard roof, but Porsche advised me to take it since I have a black / dark interior)
- Privacy windows
- Park assist with 360 view
- Ioniser (I have hay-fever, so a must)
- Interior lighting package
- Advanced climate control 4 zone
- Heated GT steering wheel
- Extra airbags for the kids (Do you know why this isn't standard? Feels like it should have been)
- Passenger display
- BOSE sound
- Electric sports sound (Do i need this? I feel that I order it because of fomo, on Youtube it sounds meh)
- Electric charging panels.

AmI missing options on my 4s you really think is missing? Or should I remove options as they are not worth it?
For example I didn't order the Performance Battery Plus since I can charge (3 phase) at home, and drive around 75 kms a day). Or should I order it?

Add PB+, it will be easier when reselling.
I'd also add the Race Tex headliner, it will elevate the interior.
Not sure if you need 4 zone ac.

Don’t be bullied into getting the pano roof if you don’t want it, there’s nothing wrong with having a sedately dark cabin. Besides, you’ve got interior lighting. Glad to see you chose the right paint colour, too!

Panoramic roof brings more lights into the cabin, make it somehow larger. Good advise from your seller.
PB+: go for it. i have similar daily routes (80-90), and i can charge in 3-phases, 400V, 32A at work, 16A at home…but additional kwhs are always welcome.
If i may - i’d paint wheels in black.

I view the electric sound as a safety feature, not a vanity or "sound enhancement" feature.

while driving my silent Tesla around Washington, DC over the past 7 years, I frequently had pedestrians just jump out in front of it because they didn't hear me coming. It can be terrifying. That, of course, never happens in my loud 911 because they hear me coming. In the Taycan, I always turn on the sound when driving in urban areas just to warn others that I am there. When viewed this way, the warning is much more pleasant than a beeping sound. Nobody has jumped out in front of the Taycan yet.

Sensible mid spec car. Other than PB+, nothing huge missing. The rest is a matter of taste.

Hi Jasper,

greetings from another - soon to be- Taycan-owner from the Netherlands.
I like your spec, I also have a Sport Turismo on order with the RS Spyder wheels :D

Options I don't really care about that much:
- IMO Sport Chrono isn't really necessary. It's not a real sports car, you probably won't be tracking the car.
- Passenger display is nice, I didn't spec it. I'm 90% alone in the car.
- Panoramic roof.. I specced it mostly for resale value, same can be said for the PB+. You don't need it, but consider the fact that real world range can be FAR less than WLTP. (still more than enough for your kms, and expecially in Holland. You wil be fine with the standard battery for hollidays also, just need to charge probably one time extra.

Options I would consider:
- ACC. I like driving with ACC, but it is also necessary to add Innodrive (can be added after purchase). Probably an important feature for resale
- I like comfort-access
- For 364€ I would option glass black (or alu) window trim (or is it standard on a 4S? Mine is RWD)
- Sports sound.. very personal. The car I test-drove didn't have it. I specced it for the same reason you are considering... I woulnd't know if I'm gonna use it

I am regretting not getting full leather, but still think it is a costly upgrade.

Thank you all for your advices! Seems that I’m adding ACC, blind spot monitor and Comfort Access. I was already afraid that your advices would be expensive for me.. ;)

PB+ is still something I have to consider. 6k is a lot of money for something the next owner might want, and I simple don’t need.

Nice! Congrats on your soon to be new car! Which color did you choose? I indeed specced the gloss black items for the exterior, but left it out of my spec list as such items are pretty taste specific.

Is the electric sound _external_? I thought it was only heard inside the cabin. Interesting.

Yeah, thats why it isn’t a FOD. It requires hardware too. Besides the speakers inside, one speaker is pointing downwards at the rear of the car.

Vulcano grey.. A bit safe, but I like it. And it’s better somerimes towards my cliënts to not draw to much attention. Besides, although I like Mamba green, I think I maybe get bored with it after a yesr or two. at which dealer did you order your car? I live in Ede, ordered at Porsche Gelderland.

Great color. Had my test drive in a Vulcano one. It was stunning, but after a history of Daytona Audi’s I took the risk in getting Gentian. I have the same fear about clients and neighbors.

I ordered in Leusden at PON campus. It’s a 10 minute drive from Zeist.
