Switch auto off and switch lights on manually.

It'll turn lights back to auto when you start driving though (so rear light strip goes off again).
At least in my car.
That's true - main lights go back on if you travel > 10 km/h (6 mph) or a distance > 100 m

Not sure why anyone would want their trail light(s) on in the daytime in any event!

My BMW actually always has the taillight lights always on and I love it. Hope there's something for the Taycan eventually.
My X5 (G05) has the option to switch rear daytime running lights on/off in menu

As already said before in this thread, the taillights are off with day-time lights. This can't be changed in the menu.
Regarding EU legislation.. a while ago (in most EU countries) taillights were not alowed to be on in conjunction with day-time lights. In some other countries (Scandinavië), it is obliged to have lights on at all time.
At this moment, in most EU countries it's is allowed to have taillights on with day-tima lights, but most brands DON'T program their cars that way, unless for the Scandinavian market. (edit: and also some other EU-countries)

In my BMW, I used Carly to program my taillights to be on at all time, because it's just safer to have them on. (because automatic lights won't always go on when you want them too, for example when driving in the rain or through a kin-of dark forest, for example.

If there is a way with the Taycan to have the taillights on at all time, I am interested to know how (without having to turn them on manually every time).

safety!
Automatic lights won't always turn on when you want them to, for example in the rain, when driving underneath a lot of trees.
Studies show that 50% of all accidents have to do with (poor) visibility.
